  1. I don't remember this happening. The opposite, tho, it sure happened, and it was with the Shimano Zodias. What a garbage stick. I expected so much more.
  2. To me its only worth for squarebills and jerkbaiting. All other technics i prefer braid to a fluoro leader.
  3. Isn't it you?🙃Someone on here told me that it is you lol. And what am i fanboy about? I hope calling Abu out for their inferior products sold at a premium isn't seen as fanboyish.
  4. I know that many of you have already seen it, but if you haven't, it's real something. Prime example of a shimano fanboy that tries to down a reel that threatens shimano low end, all of this for no income from Shimano.😱 Uses the 2nd setting on the mag dial out of 20 adjustments, backlashes 50% of the casts, and complains that it doesn't cast well. Even when he was on the third setting, and wasn't backlashing, you can hear overruns forming during the cast, and the line coils hitting the top of the frame, which will obviously slow down the spool, and you will never cast as far as the reel is capable off of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-5xLACMchA So this thread is not just about the video itself, what has been your experience with the new Tat100? There is no way that this version with the SV Boost ain't outcasting the old 2020 Tatula SV, right?
  5. I have never tried any line from YKG, and it's currently what i'd like to give a shot for 2025 because i keep hearing nothing but good stuff. But currently, from the braid i've tried, the Berkley X9 is my second favorite braid only after the 832. I used the 15lb X9 on my Pixy, and it was amazing until a river musky spooled me the hell up last Fall by taking the current, and swim to the other side of the river. Currently using the #20 on my Zillion with the SLP 1010 spool, and it outcasts the 832 by a bit, but not as abrasion resistant as the 832.
  6. Ultrasonic cleaner is useless on a fishing reel unless you need to clean a bearing. When you're disassembling, record yourself, or take pics. Then, when you're disassembling the level wind assembly, put all the parts related to the level wind together so you don't mix it up with everything else. Do it on all section of the reel, and it becomes much easier to reassemble. And best reels to learn are the OG daiwa reels from the 2000s. Stuff like the og alphas, tdz, pixy, og steez, etc. They're extremely simple, and this is also what i've used to learn reel service myself.
  7. Finally received my Graphiteleader Compatto. First impression is that this thing is insanely light and well balanced. Can't think of having held a multi piece rod that felt ligher, and i am usually all about multi piece rods, and have had a ton of them over the years. Very curious on how it'll performance for jerkbaits. Its also weird to see Made In Japan written on the blank, it's so rare nowadays.
  8. ACE-2 is also the best grease i found for the old style drag washers used on daiwa reels from the early 2000s (the ones that feel like compressed felt or something). You use cal's grease on them, and they will stutter like crazy when drag pressure is applied, but with the ACE-2, it's buttery smooth. Also great for shimano's dartanium drag washers. The pot of grease is only $10. No idea why would anyone not use it.
  9. Why use braid without a fluoro leader, though? Unless i am frogging or fishing in the salad, i always have a fluoro leader so braid or not, it doesn't make a difference.
  10. Well, minus the micro module, the Bantam and the 2020 Met is pretty tried and true to me. And while the gear set won't last as long as something on the Curado E, newer reels are certainly smoother under load.
  11. I loved the E and D series from Shimano, but i will never understand how one would take those over newer offerings from Shimano. Is it nostalgia? Is it the fact that they're hard to get in clean condition? Because its certainly not performance or smoothness. Sure the gears lasted way longer before buzzing like crazy, but that's the only positive i can think of.
  12. Has to be one lol not the whole range of reels.
  13. My last two Mets, the 2015 Met DC and the one i am using currently, the 24 Met DC, don't have the torque for high resistance baits that the Bantam has. I also prefer the Bantam frame by a tiny bit. Why not? You're a grown ass man, put money on the side, and get the reel you were always wanting to get. Buy from Japan, it won't even be that expensive.
  14. If only they made a Bantam MGL Light Edition made out of magnesium, and getting its weight to around 6.5oz. What a reel that would be.
  15. What is your favorite shimano baitcaster of all time? The one model that you consider as the best offering from Shimano. I think mine is the 24 Met DC. I got it in February, and only used it twice this year, but i am really not seeing any negatives about this reel. Very comfy frame, light enough, silky smooth and casts very well. I also really like how the line modes are external because i am alway changing these modes even when using braid pretty much exclusively. So unless something goes wrong, the 24 Met DC is pretty much what i consider as the best reel from Shimano.
  16. On hardbaits, always. On softbaits very rarely, and when i do, its during the night or super dirty water, which is usually right about now in April where i fish.
  17. Auction. I can't even find that rod anywhere else, i think they were discontinued.
  18. Japan of course. It has been released from customs less thanb 24h ago, so it is coming. Longest customs clearance i had to deal with.
  19. 6.3 or 6.4 with a 90mm handle.
  20. I used cal's for everything, and its fine, but shimano grease is superior for gears, worm shaft, etc. Superior and cheap, so i am not too sure why you wouldn't use their grease. These days i am only usiong cals on carbontex washers, and as soon as i run out, i won't be getting any in the future. The ACE-2 from Shimano is as good for carbontex washers, while aslo being the grease i prefer for gears, so will be sticking with that.
  21. Canada. I don't know what's the delay about, but its longer than usual.
  22. My graphiteleader rod stuck at customs for 22 days😭
  23. I want the spool to be 34mm of course, maybe 33mm so i could use my og alphas spools in it, but i really don't want anything under 33mm on general purpose reels, and no, i don't consider the CT as this weak finesse reel, it can handle everything you throw at it for 1oz lures and under. Massive fan of first gen Steez frame and the Pixy frame (og alphas as well, but i prefer the fatter, non ported top on the pixy). And between the three, i might actually put the CT in the first place as the best frame Daiwa has ever made. It fits like an egg in my palm. The thing is, this is exactly how i feel about the og steez and the pixy, they feel like agg shell.
  24. I'd pair it with what you need it for. Probably an amazing reel for jerkbaits. Daiwa better not abandon this frame after these limited CT's get discontinued. Easily top 3 best frames from Daiwa.
