13 fishing reels vs tatula vs other $150 reels
I'd get a Tat and forget 13fishing exists😎 And i do agree that many of their lures are somehow amazing. I still don't understand why a lure such as the Jabber Jaw or the Magic Man looks this good. Did they send these lures to be made by Duo, or another Japanese company? We usually don't see this kind of detail from non japanese lures.

Tat 80 Vs 100???
The Tat 100 i mentioned was on ali, the alphas from amazon jp because they're cheaper there than ali, and the tat 80 i mentioned was on amazon jp, but they're indeed less expensive on ali, i just couldn't see the shipping cost. From Canada, so i am not seeing the same shipping options that you do. The cheap Tat 80 don't even ship to my address, so even if i wanted to buy it, i couldn't. As of now, i have not heard of a Tatula that doesn't go buzzy within a few seasons, and because of this reason, i would always go with the alphas, which uses the same gears as the zillion, which are amazing. IF the tat 80 and the tat 100 don't go buzzy, they'll be competing with the zillion for best bang per buck, but still behind the Zillion HD that offers too much for what they're going for.

Tat 80 Vs 100???
I am not looking at digitaka. Both prices are from Amazon JP. And i always go by JDM/Ali prices. I haven't purchased a single reel locally since 2012, so this market is obviously pretty pointless to me. I saw, but they don't ship to my address so couldn't tell what they're charging for shipping. If the shipping is free, for sub $100 it's a good deal, but considering how higher end the alphas feel, at $177 i'd go with it for sure, but if you need a bunch of reels, or you don't care about the reel being silky smooth and a lasting smoothness, then the 80 is a good choice.

Tat 80 Vs 100???
The Alphas is $177. I don't know if USD dropped or the yen increased but these were at $150 for a long while. The Tat 80 is $168. Both from amazon jp. You ain't spending $30 and get 2 80s. For $9 more you're getting an Alphas, which is simply a superior reel to anything tatula. If the Zillion wasn't a thing, to me, this would be the reel to get from daiwa if we're talking about bang per buck. The Tat100 might be one of those reels as well, but every tat i see, are all buzzing, so unless this was fixed on these, i wouldn't choose a tat over an alphas, especially at such a ridiculously small price difference.

Tat 80 Vs 100???
Well of course they don't follow the same discount, but when you look at the price of the alphas tw when they first came out, and at the prices you can find them now, and pretty much all over in japan, they're much cheaper than what they once were, making them a much better buy than they were originally. And an alphas is as smooth as a zillion, so even though they're more expensive than a Tat, smoothness goes a long way. They're also lighter, a better choice for jerbaits for sure.

Tat 80 Vs 100???
If you want the tat 80, just get the alphas, its superior in every way. Between the 80 and the 100, i'd get the 100 for sure.

'24 Tatula 100 is far superior to the SLX and the Curado?
Your example is a sale, not the standard price. You can go on ali, amazon jp, or buy directly from japan, and buy these reels for that price, be it now, a week from now, or in a month. There's a reason why the 21 zillion has been considered as the best bang per buck baitcaster currently in production, but only if you buy it from japan like most have done. What i am saying is that if the difference was only $20-25 between the 24 tat 100 vs the slx, but only during a sale, you'd have a point. But that's not the case, and the price is only gonna be dropping from now on. The zillion has been eating Metanium sales, and this tat will do the same to the slx and the curado.

'24 Tatula 100 is far superior to the SLX and the Curado?
On Ali, the difference in price between the cheapest SLX and the Tatula is $25. That is extremely close, and not multiple pp above the slx. And if buying from amazon jp, the Tatula is more expensive by $20. The difference in price is so low that even a teenager without any money in the pockets would be able to afford it. In my point of view, both, the SLX and the Curado have been completely dethroned as the best lower end bang per buck reels. All three were on medium powered jerkbait rods loaded with the same 20lb braid to a 10lb fluoro leader. Rods were between 6.8 and 6.10". But this shouldn't matter that much because its not exactly the casting distance that has impressed me, its the feel of the reel under load and the way it palmed. It does not feel like a $102 reel from aliexpress. Like NOT AT ALL. So so so far from it.

'24 Tatula 100 is far superior to the SLX and the Curado?
lolno. Shimano, just like Daiwa, might be expensive, but they're also the best of the best. Can't really be overpriced when there's nothing better for the same price, let alone something less expensive.

'24 Tatula 100 is far superior to the SLX and the Curado?
First thing first, i always was a Tat hater since they were introduced. Always thought that they're Daiwa's "pollution" line of reels that the company focused too d**n much. I also mainly stick to higher end reels, so i don't own the '24 Tat, nor the SLX or the Curado. But i was on the water for the first time of the year just a couple of days ago, and was fishing with someone who had all three. Tried the Tat, and it blew my mind how far superior the '24 Tat felt when compared to the other two. They didn't even feel like they were in the same league. The Tat felt very close to the 21 Zillion, while the SLX was closer to older Black Max with the aluminum frame. Same with the Curado, the reels feels pretty low end, and doesn't come close to the 24 Tat when it comes to palmability. Now i don't know how well these Tats will last, but my hatred toward these reels has ended😎If they were ligher, say in 6.5oz range, i'd even get one just to try. Has anyone else tried these three side by side?

Shimano SLX dependability
I'd just grab the new Tatula on Ali or Japan and be done with it. To me they seem to have far surpassed the SLX and the Curado.

Rod tip wear (with pics)
Is this rod from the 80s or something? I haven't seen this being a thing even on Ali rods sold for $30.
-
2 pc vs 1 pc casting rod
Have been using a bunch of 3-5pc rods since around 2018, and they have been amazing. The important thing is to grab one from a good company, not the noname trash from ali/temu. The Megabass Triza for example, is extremely good, and that's a 3pc rod.

Are you into swimbaitin'?
Been fishing musky since forever, but only got serious into chunking large baits for bass back in mid 2023 because the studio composite rod i got, paired with the Z2020 is such an incredible combo that it doesn't bother me if i don't catch a single fish in a day of fishing. So how many of you are into swimbaiting for bass?

well, I have to choose a new reel. Zillion or Met (non DC)
Im not too sure how exactly would that side plate come off. Its tightly fitted, no chance of opening on its own. As a matter of fact, i really like this design, and wish my daiwas had something similar.

What’s the best flourocarbon that’s not super expensive?
I'd stick to Sunline no matter the price.

Daiwa Zillion HD 1000 magz boost
And what's really impressive is how well they hold the butter smoothness over the years.
-
Daiwa Zillion HD 1000 magz boost
Of course they're incredible, these reels are guaranteed to be destroying Steez sales lol. To me, of anything currently available right now, the Zil HD is the ultimate reel to buy over them all, including the Conquest, Anteres, Met DC, and everything else. When they discontinue these, there's zero chance that we'll be getting this kind of quality for the same price. This is the SV103 of today😱And i'd argue far superior to the SV103 because they're cheaper from Japan, comfier to palm, and have more tuning done to them.

What do you buy more often, new or used reels?
Why?

Multiple-piece swimbait rod suggestion
Had the Valkery Wold Expedition in 7.8', and it was a great rod. Currently using the Force 5 in 7.6' 5pc rod from Studio Composite, and its incredibly good (balance is the best i've tried from a big rod). I hear the Megabass Triza Dragoon is also great. On the cheaper side, there are a few JDM rods from Abu Garcia that seem decent for the price.

Opinion on Spiderwire Braid?
Used to use it when i got into fishing 25y ago. Havent used it in over 15 years, and with products like the sufix 832 and Berkley X9, i don't see the reason to bother. Surprised this brand didn't go under because i never hear anything about it, no marketing nor people using it.

Darn! Left one my of casting reels outside all year!!
At least it was a Temu brand, and not a Shimano or a Daiwa🙃
-
Bearing oil
Been using the Light and the Ultra Light oils from Hedgehog for over a decade. No reason to try anything else, they do their job perfectly.

Your experience with Gomexus
What y'all think of this brand? To me they're slowly becoming the Holosun of the fishing industry.

Reels on AliExpress??
Ever since they added the Paypal payment, Ali is 300% safe. I've ordered a couple of small things that were never delivered late last year, i didn't open a case with Ali, and both buyers didn't want to refund. I opened a case with Paypal, and everything got refunded.
