  1. Bought these four in the last week. Got hooked on the deps 250s late last year, now i must have multiple. Tried the Phat Lab Gill last year, and really like their profile and size, so got another. And the last two seem interesting stick baits that i wanna try for striper and smallies in murky water rivers i fish smallies in.
  2. The gear set in the OG steez isn't that great. It's smooth when new, but i wouldn't say that it lasts that long before going "Shimano'ish". Thing is, what i do with my og Steez reels is install the original pinion gear, but replace the main gear from the one that is on the og zillion, which is a tank, and significantly smoother under load than the original steez gear. This makes the og steez as smooth and silent as the new steez reels, and the upgrade isn't even expensive.
  3. That's crazy, i've never even heard anybody else stating that a Steez is rough. I've had over half a dozen of the og steez reels, and none of them were like that. If purchased in used condition, then it sure can have some wear on the gears, and sometimes the bearings, but that is to be expected with used stuff. How were the og steez hard to work on? There's barely any parts inside, just like the og alphas, pixy, tdz, etc.
  4. Agree or disagree? I was cleaning my 103SH earlier today, and it's such a great reel to work on. Super easy, barely any parts, and everything is made out of metal. Reel looks awesome (not outdated at all for being TWENTY GOD DAYUM YEARS OLD), supports THE spool platform, and palms great. What else do you need? Top 5 best reels made to date in my opinion.
  5. So annoyed right now. There was a NOS original alphas from 2004 sold for like $125 today. I wake up to do the bidding, and have no electricity for the whole day because they were repairing whatever, so couldn't bid, and now somebody bought my beloved😭THIS SUX.
  6. St Croix rods have a lot of walleye'ish rod actions. I personally just use my bass rods for them, works great.
  7. Looking at this thread, you ain't gonna find many used reels in clean condition😭
  8. Reading all these responses hurt my soul. I wouldn't even put my reel on grass😭
  9. Are you the "fishing gear are like tools to me", or are you babying your gear, and don't want to scratch your reels/rods? My OCD doesn't allow me to scratch my reels, so i usually prefer losing a PB than scratching a reel of mine. Good for resale value, i guess🙂
  10. Always was jelly of all the ponds in the US, but it never even came to me that they're mostly private. Well, that's sucks.
  11. This is so complicated and annoying.
  12. Shimano and Daiwa stuff is the best. Cheap, and quality, so no reason to bother with the others outside of spool bearing oil, which i personally use from Hedgehog.
  13. What the hell??? If this applies to fishing reels, that's ridiculous.
  14. Any idea what the tariff is on aluminum coming out of Canada?
  15. What are those massive tariffs that some of you get? Is it some kind of an additional tariff on aluminum, or something?
  16. From Canada, so no lol. Normally, we pay 15% in custom duties, but when shipped with Japan Post, customs end up being like 6%, so it's great🙂
  17. Saw a new 24 Tat for $64 a few days ago, and didn't grab it, but should have, just to do an in depth comparison against the zillion for a whole season.
  18. The worst bait in over 20 years of fishing is something i purchased last year. The Freedom Mischief Minnow. I can't believe this garbage made to market. It's so bad that i'd prefer using a Googan rod, Googan reel, and Googan line, over fishing with that Mischief Minnow.
  19. St Lawrence river from the bank is👍for slab smllies.
  20. I'd be sneaking in all of them. There's one private pond i fish since around 2004-2005🤣
  21. As it was already mentioned before, investing into a bottle of MendIt is a must when using keitechs or any other plastics full of salt.
  22. Y'all are so lucky in the US having ponds on every corner, full of largies. Here in Canada, when you find one, if you're very lucky, it might have some crapies and 6" catfish🤢Canada really did drop the ball on this.
  23. Meh, i don't have that many hot places for one near me. And it's so much work loading and unloading one.
