  1. I have about a dozen within 30 minutes. Mostly smaller lakes. My home lake and the St Croix river are under 10 minutes from the house. I am thankful.

Treat your clothing with permethrin. Wear colors you can easily spot ticks on. Seems like they are getting worse and worse these days.
  3. I go where the wind goes. 😆
  4. Last one through the ice for this year. Ice fishing gear packed away in the attic. Now the wait for the first Saturday of May.
  5. I only have a limited time to fish during the week and Saturday morning. I want to catch fish, so I throw senkos. Trig and wacky. They are versatile and just flat out work so I don't waste my time with much else.
  6. I think faith and fishing goes hand in hand for me. I'm just so thankful to be out in creation, to have the opportunity and time to go fish for a few hours with a healthy body. The means to purchase what minimal gear I need. It sounds cliche, but it's a gift. It helps me stay grounded with positivity. I don't need to do any of this, but I get to. Of course, chasing a PB is always in the back of our minds, but enjoying every moment on the water in thankfulness will be playing a bigger part for me this season. Watching my son reel in a bass, does it get any better? I think I appreciate the gift of fishing a bit more as the years go by. I've noticed the years are starting to pick up their pace...
  7. I would do it if it was legal in Wisconsin.
  8. 4lb Trilene XL, forever.
  9. Couple 40 degree days coming up for us. Ice fish without gloves!
  10. Its ok. Much better fish to catch and eat. State minimum is 14 inches here in 'sconsin. I wouldn't keep anything bigger than that to eat. I wish it was 12 inches to be honest, but what do I know. Would rather keep an early spring or late fall bass for eatin'.
  11. I'm a minimalist as it goes in many things. I tend to focus on one technique on my short (4-5 hours) trips. Generally these are proven fish catching presentations so I just stick with them. Ned rig, wacky / texas rig and paddletail swimbaits.
  12. Learning the jerkbait! "Adventure" fish more with my boys on the St Croix. They love using handlines.
  13. I would take a cool picture and let it go. Put it on my obituary.
  14. November kayak fishing in Wisconsin builds character.
  15. Finally got a real hog tonight.
  16. I would absolutely love a realistic bass fishing game. I play the Sega Bass Fishing every once in awhile, but alas, its arcade like. Really itching for April...
  17. What pound Blue Label were you using?
  18. Always have used an Alberto knot and never had a failure.
  19. All the smallies I catch on the St Croix have red eyes. I honestly thought they all did.
  20. Going with #6 fluorocarbon for weightless senko and wacky rig on a medium light rod. Probably some Invisx, but maybe Tatsu if it's worth the extra? Excited for spring.
  21. I would like to see some high viz top colored frogs. Just to make it easier to see when it gets eaten.
  22. I live 5 minutes from my home lake and the St Croix River. I can be in the water ready to go in 7 minutes. Simplicity and minimalism rule for me and my kayak is a huge part of that.
  23. It's the most gear and effort intensive, that's for sure. Sometimes I'll be panfishing and I am wearing my Striker float suit, have the Milwaukee Fuel drill auger, fish finder and sometimes even the insulated shack and buddy heater if it's really cold...and I'll pull up a little 3 inch 'gill and I honestly laugh out loud. All that effort, gear, hole hopping for some dinks. The addiction is real.
  24. Ice fishing is just cope until spring, if I'm honest. Otherwise I'd go mad.
  25. My favorite fish to catch year round. It's steel leaders, spoons and rtraps. One of the best tasting fish to me.
