What are your 2026 fishing goals?

Featured Replies

With the end of 2025 rapidly approaching I hope many of us complete the goals we had for 2025.

One of my goals in 2026 is to keep learning and exploring the Susquehanna River. This will be a goal of mine for probably the rest of my life.

I would also like to get someone who isn’t an active  fisherman into fishing.

I would like to fish as much as I can with my dad.

I would like to enter the Ike foundation tournament this year as well. That isn’t as easy as it sounds though.

What are your plans and goals for the up coming season?

Get out more often - hopefully on a boat occasionally (only once this past year).  Tighten up my finesse game with more options.

Fishing goals for this upcoming season.

Pretty much the same as they have been for the past several.

Be safe.

Stay committed to keeping my mind, body & spirit strong so I can be on the water.

Fish with my wife as much as possible.

Record most every experience.

Fish hard and make the most of every opportunity I get.

When we had a camper I fished 100 days each year.  That has drastically dropped lately.  With my hand surgeries and my daughter’s battle with breast cancer I have only been 54 times so far this year.  I want to get it back to 75-80 trips in 2026.

I have some small crankbaits that are difficult to cast. My 2026 goal is to come up with a baitcaster that I can accurately roll cast. I have a 6'6" med light Shimano Compere rod. I need to  come up with a reel  and line combination that matches the rod for easy roll casting.

Fish deeper than 4 foot.

I've already started my goal.

Just yesterday I've reduced the amount of inventory I plan to carry in 2026.

Same as the past decade; just be able to kayak, camp and fish.

Get out in the water more often and catch more bass on BSF tackle and a few big jig fish.

I want to fish with my grandsons and help them develop their skills.  I can’t wait to hear them yell, Papa, got one!!!  I’m not one to take fish pictures but that could change.

Reach “master angler” (catch 10 citation sized fish of different species). I plan to go for crappie, flathead, blue cat, pickerel, and perch/walleye for the remaining 5. As far as bass fishing, break 9lbs.

Finally get serious about kayak fishing. This means I'm going to have to figure a solution to moving my yak that isn't just wheeling it over with a kayak cart to water that is in walking distance. I'm planning on getting a truck this year, so that should help.

That's a great goal!

To enjoy fishing even more.

Travel more to fish new locations.

Fish with my sons more now that they are old enough to fish at 12 and 14.

Visit old Florida fish camps and rent cabins and camp out more with my boys while fishing in remote places.

I plan on continuing to improve in my bass fishing and am extremely excited to hit my waters with a much better knowledge and ability. I’ve already been back in mind on moments I thought “dang, I should’ve did this at that time” etc. I’m gonna try and remember to bring a scale or atleast a tape more. I’d like to get a 6lb NMI largemouth and another huge smallmouth.

The wife retired last August, so I'll be happy to fish with her a lot more next year than in years past. No real goals beyond that. Just get out as often as possible and enjoy my time on the water in quest of big fish.

My goal is spend a little more time traveling to chase smallies chasing a new PB.

My goals are to have fun, fish a couple of new spots next year, and fish with more ultra light tackle.

I had my son fishing with me when he was like 5 but it wasn’t fast enough for him. About 5 years ago he was on the boat with me while I was fishing. He asked if he could try. Caught a fish and hasn’t looked back since

Good luck

@gim Take full advantage of every opportunity this spring & you will be rewarded. Prespawn is magic time.

Why do people always set the bar so high with unreasonable goals?

My goals are close to the same as last year.   Make it to 2027, New PB. fish more, keep Bait Monkey on a shorter leash, and improve my casting accuracy.  I didn't accomplish any of these goals last year, but 2026 is going to be my year.
