  1. Every big bass I have lost and never saw was a DD. This site must be full of type B’s. I don’t dwell on the big fish I lose for long but for about an hour I could make a sailor blush.
  2. You might consider Shane’s Baits, they have both in many configurations. I have used them for a long time and they are great. A bonus is the head is removable, so if you break a wire, you can just replace that wire instead of the whole bait. They also have some flex at the head, so you don’t develop a weak spot where the wire is molded into the head. They used to have a video on their website explaining how they are unique but I haven’t visited in some time. To answer your question, I personally don’t think it makes a big difference and use both.
  3. Quick way to do an image search: - Save the photo to your library - Open Google and on the right side of the search bar there is an image of a microphone and a camera. - Click on the camera, click upload a file and choose the photo you saved to your photo library. Short answer…like the others said above, it is a Mirrolure.
  4. No apologies needed as far as I’m concerned. I have found myself frustrated on numerous occasions on this site and I have only been here a few months. I hope you enjoy your Zillions. They are great reels.
  5. I’m with you on the questionable advantage. There are many who believe a hook inline with eye will lie flatter against the baits belly on the front hook and ride with one hook up (or down depending on preference) and one hook on each side on the trail hook. When motionless, this visually looks true. However, I believe the addition of a split ring as well as the resistance and bait action will offset any very slight difference in the hook to eye orientation. I just answered the question as stated because I wasn’t asked for my opinion. I do pay attention to the orientation of the hook point when changing trebles but I personally don’t make my treble purchases based on whether the eye is inline or perpendicular.
  6. I also don’t wear PFD’s all the time either 😜.
  7. Full disclosure…the real reason I don’t wear a PDF all the time is because a PDF shaped suntan would ruin my dancing career.
  8. Agree…people have heels dug in and opinions are not going to change.
  9. That looks like my pool right now.
  10. As is your choice and I respect that. If I lived in MN, that might be my choice as well. I have fished and swam in many, many lakes and ponds over my lifetime. We just got back from Puerto Rico where we were doing backflips off a waterfall on a rope. My choice on wearing a PDF is based on the law first and circumstances second, and not a blanket decision. But that’s just me and no judgement to those who choose differently.
  11. Life is full of choices. I will always follow the laws and in Texas, when vehicles are underway, jackets are required for children under 13 and must be easily accessible for all other boaters. I always use a jacket when the big motor is on but I usually don’t wear one when I am on the front deck. If on a kayak, I always wear one if the water is cold, if the traffic is heavy, or if I am fishing in heavy vegetation. Otherwise, I typically have my jacket within arms reach. If that makes me irresponsible, so be it. FWIW, I have a left rear tire that is below the recommended tread depth right now as well, so I obviously like to live dangerously.
  12. I wear one around my house because we have been known to get the occasional flash flood. No such thing as too safe..
  13. Yes n the 35’s and 36’s. No on the Elites. Not sure on the Magic Eye’s.
  14. I was simply responding to another post where the term was used. I never made a value judgement and think people have a pretty clear understanding of what frugal means. If you felt I was in any way placing any type of judgement, my apologies.
  15. That’s good…maybe folks here are atypical of most fishermen. Nothing wrong with frugality. Maybe they have more sense than those of us who prefer premium gear. I have managed to avoid most addictions but fishing is not one of them. I can never get past the part where you have to admit you have a problem.
  16. Nice suits, nice cars, nice houses, and on and on and nobody seems to have a problem. Buying premium hunting gear doesn’t seem to get other hunters tweeked out. But fishermen are a different story. Post something about premium fishing gear and you will always get comments questioning motivations. Fishermen are strange creatures. It’s ok to like higher end stuff if you can afford it and it doesn’t have to be about status at the boat ramp.
  17. Not sure which lake you are on but they could be white bass. They don’t look like LMB to me. Your sonar shows 14.7’ but you said you were seeing fish at 25-35’ in 40’ of water. That is pretty typical of white’s this time of year.
  18. I definitely consider “trends” (tendencies) when I fish and I think every fisherman considers them to a certain extent every time they are on the water. Whether it’s bass preferring edges, sunlight repositioning bass, seasonal tendencies around bass migrations, etc., I believe trends can help lessen unproductive time on the water. You could even argue that successful pattern fishing is just the identification of a short term trend. I also believe bass can be very difficult to impossible to identify with their belly in the dirt.
  19. I downsized about 3 years ago but now I am back to the original number of rods, they just cost a lot more. You have received good feedback on rods, so I’ll not add more. However, I think there are better options for moving baits than NRX rods. I use NRX for bottom contact only as I feel like that is where they shine. For moving baits, I would look at something like an Alpha Angler Rebound or ChatterBound. I know you asked for NRX only but I have a problem following directions.
  20. My experience as well and I fish jerkbaits quite often. It is an erratic bait when worked properly, so you are going to get some fish hooked outside of the mouth. I also agree that there are times when the bass will slap at the bait but not commit. However, I rarely have a gut hooked fish with a hard jerkbait.
  21. It’s never a good sign when you have to explain the joke.
  22. You didn’t ask me but I thought I would share my favorite. I like the A-Rigs from Shane’s Baits. They have a number of configurations and they sell the replacement arms, so if one breaks, you just replace the arm v. the entire rig.
  23. There is no straight answer. What is your favorite candy bar…mine is a Snickers. If you want an answer, I agree with @Columbia Craw…get 3 Zillions.
  24. Don’t overthink this. If you have backlash issues with any of these reels, the problem is either in the setup or the mirror. Forget about year, etc. Any slight differences won’t be noticeable to you, nor will they really impact your priority…minimizing backlashes. All 3 are quality, versatile reels that will work with any of your setup's and all 3 are very forgiving, even for the dumbest of thumbs. Beyond that, it’s just personal preference and how much you want to spend. Plus, with a little practice, you will find that the brakes quickly become an afterthought.
