I would position my boat next to the point that is above the water. If the wind is coming from the above red marked X right side start my casting pattern straight out at the small high spot and work the break around the where the red mark end. Stop and fan cast the entire shallow zone with all those breaks. The X area marked is a good funnel zone and high potential area. Continue all the way around to where I started covering all the breaks. Tom

I will go out on a limb and say most of today’s bass anglers casting motion is incorrect based on how I see Pro tournament anglers casting. Fresh water casting rods were pistol grip design from the knuckle buster free spool and handle spinning era when all we had was our thumb to control the spool. Salt water anglers had straight handle rods for double handed casting and thumb controlled reel spools. You couldn’t cast reels without breaks in free spool without letting the rod do the casting and using proper casting motion. There are several casting techniques from straight over head to under hand with the rod held anywhere in between. If you use a lot of arm swing like a baseball bat swinging for the fences your technique is incorrect. If your reel handle is sideways and spool parallel to the water your casting technique is incorrect and eventually will end up having carpal tunnel tendon problems and tennis elbow. My most comfortable casting motion is the rod swing about 60 degrees above the water surface in lieu of straight overhead or side arm. Second most comfortable is The roll cast that is all wrist and rod motion. To me proper casting technique is the reel handle sideways, thumb pointed at the ear the forearm and wrist casting motion elbow to your side casting motion ending knuckles up and thumb sideways not upright. Free spool being zero braking or if windy minimal braking. Tom

Clear Lake is a natural lake, not a reservoir and has a Rumsey weir wooden spillway at Cache Creek outflow built to raise the water 7+’ decades ago. Some made made structure flooded in the shallow areas below 7’ at full pool. What the OP is depicting is a natural lake point and hump outside. Tom

The tie down being attached to the jack plate is unusual location. The ideal location is the flat surface behind the tie down strap. This means using a different design transom saver like MotorMate or My Wedge and use eye bolt hold downs away from the transducer. Tom

Very obvious hump connected to the point and imagine it gets hammered you swimbait anglers. If the is blowing left to right start casting into the wind from right side. Bass don’t like lures coming from behind them. Your kayak has an advantage because it’s quite and you can approach from close to shore casting outwards or cross wind. Work the entire point then out all the way around the bumpy hump. Looks good but not isolated enough to be over looked. Tom

The issue with Lithium is salt water evaporating leaving a conductive current path that shorts out the terminals. Most anglers don’t fish salt water with exposed batteries to the eliminates. Tom

Just using the standard nominal lure rating by adding min/max weights and dividing by 2 the 965 wheel house is 4 oz, the 966 is 5 1/2 oz. It comes down to what lures you use. Treble hard baits error on the lighter side, soft heavy jig hook on the heavier side. Casting the lure the hook doesn’t matter, Hook setting it does. 8” ROF 12 Hudds weigh about 4 1/4 oz within the 965 lure range for casting a little marginal hook setting...toss up imo. I always went up in swimbait rod power and 300 reel size, just me. Nice rod, @$400 it should be. Tom

Butch Brown is the best big bass angler I know of. Butch is driven by a force few have and catches big fish period. When Butch was a young teen he was catching big bass at Lake Sherwood and hung out at the local tackle shops listening and learning from anglers. When pork rind was popular the 2 colors most used was black or white. Uncle Josh made a 9” black Widow Eel for the striper market that a excellent jig trailer for LMB. I used Widow as a trailer on my black vinyl twin spins calling it The Thing because it looked it came from out space. Need to get out The Thing this winter and give it=a try. Poe had a black 300 series deep diver with a narrow orange belly that was my go to plug for years. Black Power worms are go to lure for night bass fishing. Tom

Let’s be honest the only Lithium mine in the USA is located in Nevada. There are vast amounts of strategic minerals located in the Owens Valley, Death Valley along the California Nevada boarder that companies like Union Carbide polluted the ground water and political pool resulting in no mining in those areas. Australia and China are the major sources of lithium. When America becomes a player in the lithium battery business in lieu of a buyer I will change my mind. If you haven’t Figured out by now I am a boycotter of everything made in China including lithium batteries. Yes, it is the current state of the art and I am or was a aerospace engineer who knows EMF the process converting dissimilar metals to electrical energy. Lighter weight then lead-acid and shorter recharge time drives this technology. My only grip is we invented the technology and don’t produce it. Enough said we don’t have have any alternatives so buy from companies who support the products Done! Tom

Have a safe outing?? Pare the batteries deep cycle marine? Lot of hassle taking them out to have charged! Hope the Auto shop knows what they doing and charged using 10-15 amps. Tom

Suggest reading Cobalt Red before buying Lithium batteries, higher cost then money. If weight is a driving factor then it’s an option. Longevity of battery life is marginal vs today’s AGM’s. You are a recreational bass angler that goes home after a day on the water, charging the battery isn’t a issue. Multiple day use and can't charge the batteries, Lithium is a choice. Tom

The bass in the photo is a Largemouth. If the bass in your lake are primarily Smallmouth then I would down size the lures. For example a very effective Smallmouth jig is a Yamamoto 4” #221 Hula Grub on 3/8 oz plain black football head jig. You cast cast this jig the same technique you fish a Texas rig w/bullet weight. Top water lures same you use during the day, same Hula grub jig and worms. Night Worms consider 8” Max Scent King Tail Power worm in Black w/ blue flake and 5” Zipper curl tail Roboworm in Midnight. Texas rig the worms using 8mm Glass faceded bead, 3/16 oz bullet weight and Owner 4107 size 3/0 Cover Shot hook. This is known as Brass n Glass, but any hard metal weight works. What tackle do you use? Tom

What is the current water temp? What type of bass....Smallmouth, Spotted or LMB. If bass live in this lake there will be crawdads and jigs will work. Tom

Check the fluid level and charge them. Batteries don’t hold a full charge for months. We’re the batteries hooked up with cable shown in the photo, if so they maybe near very low voltage stored under a cover humid climate. Tom

Did you charge them before checking the electrolyte fluid level ( water)? The charging wet cell batteries creates heat and vapor, if humid condensation can develop. Do your self a favor and clean the battery post and terminals then coat with electrolyte grease ( Vaseline works). Tom PS, enjoy your Holiday outing?
