this place is intriguing.  lot of humps and some depressions.  I'm new to pre-scouting areas using charts.   I love fishing off shore, and just starting to feel comfortable.  but if I am being honest, my current favorite locations have been the result of blind luck and blind casting.

thoughts?  it is just within reach of my kayak range, if weather cooperates.  coming from there in wind would be but-puckering.

sorry for the posting of a phone pic.  my iMac is acting up. IF YOU KNOW WHERE THIS IS, PLEASE DONT SAY.  this lake gets hammered as it is.

Hard to say.  The fish can move to different areas at different times and for different reasons, so there's not always a clear answer until you get out there and establish some patterns.  The chart alone is just one piece of a much larger puzzle.  But I would want to try just off the point in the lower section, where there could be a funnel directing fish.  And I would also want to try the areas above that where the depth lines run closest together.  Where exactly, I'd probably want to run over it with my sonar to see where the fish are holding.  It could depend on the current, cover, or whatever else is around that, but sonar would narrow down the best spots fairly quickly.  Either way, if I saw that on a map ahead of time, I'd probably want to check it out.  It could be good.  It could also be too deep for the bass to want to relate to any of it.

Usually what I'll do for prefishing is mark a bunch of spots I find like that in my mind.  Then, once you get out on the lake and either find some fish with trial and error or by sonar, note the depth at which they are holding.  Then look for features like what you have there in the lake, that occur at the depth you just noted.

Then again, I'm no pro.  I'm not even good at fishing.  I'm just better than I ought to be.

look good to me. Sure, check it out.

Yall remember the navionics photo thread I started a bit back? I went looking over there. There were two boats sitting on different parts of the structure, but graphing the area, it looked like the Dead Sea, unless you moved all the way out to 35ft.

Very obvious hump connected to the point and imagine it gets hammered you swimbait anglers.

If the is blowing left to right start casting into the wind from right side. Bass don’t like lures coming from behind them.

Your kayak has an advantage because it’s quite and you can approach from close to shore casting outwards or cross wind. Work the entire point then out all the way around the bumpy hump.

Looks good but not isolated enough to be over looked.

I would position my boat next to the point that is above the water. If the wind is coming from the above red marked X right side start my casting pattern straight out at the small high spot and work the break around the where the red mark end. Stop and fan cast the entire shallow zone with all those breaks. The X area marked is a good funnel zone and high potential area. Continue all the way around to where I started covering all the breaks.

I pummeled the area with various baits and got zero sniffs.  I spent way too much time there and was rewarded with my first real skunk of the year.

next year, I hope they let the grass grow in..and I will try again.
