  1. If I have success, I'll make sure to let you know.
  2. This has always been something I think is worth doing, and probably will in the near future. I think having the exact scent and profile of what bass are used to eating could definitely get more bites. Has anyone ever done this, or heard of anyone having success doing this?
  3. 6lb mono for panfish, 15lb braid to 10lb leader for bass spinning combos, 15lb flouro for most casting setups, 50lb braid for punching and frogging, and 20lb mono for 8 inch baits and up or chunky 6 inch ones like the Bacca Burrito Shad.
  4. Picked up an 8-inch shad colored magdraft, 3/4oz punching jigheads, PowerBait pit bosses, and 20-pound Suffix mono. I can't wait for next April. All from my local tackle store, Baitwrx. It's easier to get in and out and find what you need than going to Bass Pro.
  5. Reel Life, Worldwide Sportsman, Columbia PFG, and Realtree Fishing have all served me well. They are all comfortable and breathe pretty well. The two main brands I would suggest are Reel Life and Columbia.
  6. Original bladed jig, slobberknocker, evo, bladed jig, homemade, jigsaw, thunder cricket, cheap Amazon ones, and whatever others there are. Bladed jigs consistently catch numbers and big bass year-round. Z-Man Chatterbaits have caught every bass over 4lbs for me using a bladed jig. If you constantly see other anglers throwing them on your lake, you could switch to a more subtle option like the bladed jig stealth blade. It has less thump and a clear blade for realism and more pressured bass. Probably 80 percent of the bass I catch every year over 4 are on bladed jigs. Especially late February to the middle of prespawn. To weed out most smaller bites during those times, I put a whole white trick worm on the back, and it works phenomenally every time. I am also trying some 6 inch Panoramas as a trailer after marinating them in Pit Bosses. The acetone smell is completely gone. I kind of went all over the place there, but all that to say, you should give them a shot. If you end up not liking them, maybe wait till prespawn, or just forget about em.
  7. Its always nice when you can get away with strait braid. Never having to worry about break offs. Good luck down there.
  8. Weightless and weighted texas rigged plastics, Frogs, and swim jigs.
  9. When fishing a shad swimbait at my local lake earlier today, I was reeling and had shad following and bumping into my bait. This happened multiple times. I would make a cast, and when it was shallow, they would do it again. Knowing that the shad spawn is probably happening, I think they were males trying to spawn with it. They were all smaller than the lure, so I think they thought it was a bigger female. Any thoughts?
  10. I like the Idea and have seen them here and there, but the hookup ratio is what I would be concerned about. Especially since bass might try to eat it headfirst since it's longer than a frog.
  11. Not at all, probably would have thought the same.

  13. Dont know if this was shared or not, but there is a big sale on the 6th Sense website right now. I think I'll pick up a few things.
  14. I know Walleye fishing is supposedly amazing at Stockton, but I haven't really done any. I was there last Sunday, and had pretty good success flipping a black and blue jig in the murky water I was fishing after some good rain.
  15. In a private pond, I'd think around 15, but it would be caught less as it got older. In a lake, probably the same amount, but they are fished for more in a lake, but it's less likely they'll get caught cause theres so many. The only time I have knowingly caught the same fish twice was in a private pond. It gained about a third of a pound, being around 4.3lbs the second time it was caught. I knew she was the same fish because her lateral line pattern was identical when I looked at both pictures.
  16. Scent is another thing I've thought about. Apparently, the panoramas smell like acetone, so I'll get some Powerbait or gulp liquid to soak them in after leaving them out.
  17. This winter, I want to start using large, subtle, bottom baits. A couple of months ago, I came across the 6th Sense Bodega. An interesting creature bait with flappy claws or fins. Has anyone used these, or have any recommendations around the same price?
  18. Thanks for the info and recommendations. I've decided to go with the hammer shad with a stout stinger treble. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
  19. The pics for the bass I caught on the burrito didn't load. A long wait for nothing, sorry guys. I'll try to catch some more on a big bait and post those. Caught some backwater bass at the James River on a buckeye lures swim jig and a bladed jig evo the other day in the bluegill color. I love fishing trips like this.

  21. Thanks for the recommendation. Looks like the hammer shad is made from a different formula than the gills are. Apparently, its durability is much better durability-wise. I just wish there were more reviews.
  22. I'd do the same, except for with the swim jig. I dont think it's ideal to throw them on such light line when you're setting the hook pretty hard and swimming them through a lot of cover most of the time.
  23. Recently, I have been looking to buy another big swimbait that is as realistic as possible. I looked on multiple sites, and found that the Mattlures hammer shad looked like the best option. It is 7.5 inches. Does anyone have experience with this swimbait or know of another good top hook option with the same realism and size that has a similar price? I've got Bacca burritos already.
