  1. Seven days a week since the neighborhood pond is in walking distance. However sometimes i'll just go up there for an hour or so after work. Extended periods of fishing, 4-12 hours, I go about twice a week.
  2. Congratulations, LBH. Would you mind posting a link to that article.
  3. I was just giving you a hard time. You are allowed to have your own opinion. I don't agree with you, but I can see where your coming from I suppose.
  4. Wow...private pond, your tough cajun. What about a senko is that to easy.
  5. Hypothetically,my friend and I are fishing and we both catch new PB's of 9lbs. He was using a plastic creature bait and I a live crawfish. In your opinion does he have bragging rights over me and if so how big would mine have to be before he didn't?

Avalon, I know you know this, but the Tiki is a knockoff. It works best for you b/c you have confidence in it b/c you throw it. If one knockoff will work why not others? IMO the dinger and zero are much closer to a Senko than the Tiki's. All of them work though. I was in Academy a couple of days ago and saw a color of dingers that I liked so I bought them. Pearl something or other I don't remember, looked like a dark baby bass. First time I had bought any dingers in a few months. When I fished them on Wed. I noticed they had a slot in the top for the hook point. I thought that was kinda cool.

Welcome to the site. How far do you live from Choke Canyon?
  8. I agree that it is more about contrast than color. I would say about 95% of the time and the remaining 5% for the very few times fish seem to want a particular color.
  9. Very mature decision. The fishing gods will reward you.
  10. Nice fish. Were you able to weigh them

Checked the scales last night with some 5lbs weights my wife had. I don't have any weights since i'm already so buff ;D ;D. Anyways with one weight the scale was 1oz light and 2 weights it was 2 oz light. For all I know it could of been the weights. Regardles on a 6lber the most the scales could of been off were and oz and a half. Thanks, for all the compliments guys.

Here is a wierd story about that fish since i've had a couple of it looks bigger that that comments. My fishing partner caught the same fish on Sunday. One of the rare times he went out without me. The guy he went out with only had a set of spring scales and the fish went 8lbs. I have no idea to the age, brand, condition of accuracy of these scales, but when my buddy caught it he was guessing 7lbs. My scales had finally crapped out so on Tuesday before I went fishing I went to Wal-Mart and bought the only digital scales they had. Needless to say they were pretty cheap. Made by Berkley. Anyways only caught one fish Tuesday worth weighing. I was guessing 4lbs 8oz and i'm normally pretty conservative. Weighed it and it came in at 3lbs 14oz. Thought what was wrong with these darn scales, but after studying the fish decided I was wrong. Wednesday we only caught one other fish worth weighing and it came in at 4lbs 8oz. Which was only a couple of ounces of our guess. I haven't thought of an easy way to check these scales yet, but i'm pretty sure they are correct since they are brand new. I will post the pics of the other fish and see what ya'll think. I think I just lucked out and got a good picture.

Went fishing with a guide not that long ago on Fork and he said that if you don't split the tail you are representing a bluegill feeding of the bottom. Split tail is crawfish, obviously. He also cut the tail of his old ones, split them and used them for jig trailers, which we were swimming.

Caught on my very first cast Wednesday. It went 6lbs 12oz and was caught swimming a jig
  16. Both VERY funny Muddy and Speedbead. I'm sure Mr. Hannon would catch the new world record of 62lbs 11oz on that thing.
  17. Is Cables some new outdoor store that hasn't made it down to Texas yet. Sorry, Muddy but I know you would of nailed me.
  18. I wasn't going to get involved in this one, but here goes. Clarence, as a fellow message board newbie I feel I owe this to you. What you can learn from this site here is phenomal. You want to stick around I promise. Fortunatly, I had the good fortune of visiting the site 1,000's of times b4 getting off my arse and joining. Catt is a very respected member on this site. BR support and respect of us newbies is amazing also. With such disrespect to anyone, much less senior members, i'm afraid people will be reluctant to help you. I think Catt just misread your post. I got it that you have the right to fish this pond, but not in view of the golfers. Catt just missed that and was trying to save you a fine. Maybe you didn't like how he handled it but not everyone is going to mesh. Its probably in everyones best interest if just let it slide or say i'm not trespassing at night. Hope you tear them up when you give the nightime a try. What is proper protocall for PM's. I've sent a few since i've joined. I didn't realize I might be upsetting people. I thought I was doing the proper thing by PMing. In my opinion if any of the PM's I sent to members, that I know nothing about, I would of been hijacking a thread.
  19. It looks like it has a sheep there in the middle of its belly.
  20. I quit after the 3rd try on 60. This has now officially ruined my day.
  21. George is right, get a scale. The weight estimators will help you on the fish you've already thrown in the water, but if weight is important a scale is a must.
  22. The sway back spooks are much easier to walk than regular spooks. For fun nothing beats a buzzbait(white).
  23. I don't know what set-up your using but braid will help. Also use the heaviest action rod you have or better yet go buy a heavy rod if you can. I don't personally have this set-up because I don't fish frogs enough to justify having one rod, reel and braided line tied up to just to a frog. Most likely your problem though is your casting that frog a mile and you have to much stretch in your equipment on those long hook sets. If like me you can't go out and get a specific frog set-up it will help to fish the frog on your heaviest rod, hopefully at least a med heavy, at the 11 o'clock position. This will force you to reel down and give the fish time to take the bait. However, your pretty sure that you are already giving it enough time so it is probably your set-up.
  24. I personally think it was the medium action rod, and braid will help.
  25. I know i'm new in here, and this is kind of a sticky subject but is it a big deal if some people are keeping fish. I always catch and release everything(have never kept a one). However we all agree that some bass need to be taken. If we all fished liked most of us do wouldn't everything become over populated. I also understand that if he's keeping anything larger than say 3.5 thats probably not good, and unacceptable in my book. To me if people want to go and keep the small ones they catch that is good. Mainly b/c I have no interest in taking them home and cleaning them. So basically the guy that keeps all his small ones is doing several peoples part of selected harvest. Also I believe that Georgia Fish and Game would step in and set limits if there was a problem.
