  1. I almost always fish the brush hogs on a trig(1/8oz). Works very well and it is right up there with the beaver as far as creature baits. As others said the babies are the best to start out with. Big fish still hit them. However, I will use the big ones if i'm fishing somewhere I know there are a lot of lunkers.

Sorry to get everyone worried over nothing. I'm aware of the glich now and will keep it in mind the next time I notice something that seems completly crazy.
  4. Born and raised in a little bitty town called Brock. Live in Weatherford now. I thought I recognized your name from a guy I new in college. Guess the TX thing was just a coincidence.
  5. Wow.......I just plugged fish chris' fishes numbers into the weight calcualtor and it told me that I was a liar there was noway a 25+ in fish could be almost as fat as it was long. Seriously, the calculator was pretty close only missing the fish by .12. That suprised me I figured a fish with that extreme of measurements would make the calculator look silly. To put in perspective how fat that fish is when I plugged only the length measurement in the calculator estimated only 14.9 girth.
  6. Welcome Paddy. You don't happen to be from Texas do you?

I just noticed that ReelMech is listed as an ex-member. Does anyone kow what happened? I don't how I missed this. I'm pretty bummed I was planning on shipping my stuff to him this winter. Anyone know anyone else they would recommend for servicing reels. Never mind, appears it is just a glich . I have my man for reel servicing.
  8. Very cool that you go to all that trouble LBH.
  9. I think jumping up and down in a boat or the shore would make a difference. However I look at talking like lighting(just realized I don't know how to spell lightning :-[). When lightning strikes water electricity is spread throughout surface. Thus, not harming the fish. I think. Sound does the same thing disperses throughout the surface. However obviously in a boat your sitting below the surface. Most likely you don't catch as many fish with your gf b/c your not concentrating as much.
  10. Very funny
  11. Thats a pretty nifty Koozie, but I wonder if it makes your beer taste skunky .
  12. Thats a fishy looking pond right there. Looks like you guys had a fun day.
  13. Strike Kings new red eye shad is my new favorite, but b4 that it was one made by Kinami.
  14. Nice. Must of been around for awhile though. Check out the can.
  15. He just doesn't get it. I was hoping he would learn after the one year suspension, but he obviously didn't.
  16. Lets say you are out bass fishing and catch a crappie that is within a couple of ounces of the state record. Would you mount the crappie? I don't think I would since I wasn't targeting crappie, but couldn't be sure until I saw that beast .
  17. Its great to get to know what you guys do. I'm in new home sales for a large, privatley owned builder in the DFW area.
  18. Cool post. Wish I had some pictures with me to show you guys. We have a white collie(whites are the rarest) and a blak lab. I took the lab from an elderly lady, whose place I was dove hunting on, that had her dumped on her, and didn't think she could take care of it. The lab was in real bad shape and required a lot of immediate medical attention. Charcoal(the lab) has paid me back by digging holes all in my yard that I do my best to keep looking like a golf course. My wife loves her though. Gus is the collies name. We named him after Gus from Lonesome Dove and wanted to name the lab Deets, but the lady we got her from had already named her, so we kept it.
  19. I got a lot better at it when I read an article suggesting to never take line out past your reel. 3-4 short of the reel works best for me. Hope this helps.
  20. LOL ;D.....................Ceph stole my thunder. I own a Citica and if you decide to buy one I highly doubt that you'll be disappointed. Unless you also buy a Revo. Then you'll wish you had bought two Revo's. I did. Seriously though if you are dead set on a Shimano you'll be happy with the Citica.
  21. Watermelon, Watermelon, Watermelon.
  22. It was actually laying in my tackle bag on the bank where I began fishing :'(. I'm a genious :.
  23. I would say two things: 1)Keeping a fish on. I rarely have fish come unbuttoned and have no idea why. 2)I haven't been fishing long enough to determine if this is luck(and it probably is)catching the biggest fish of the day. Almost everyone I fish with is a better fisherman than me, but probably 90% of the time I leave with the big fish of the day.
  24. I would say somewhere around 7-8 lbs is where I would start considering it. 7-8 lbs regardless of where you fish is a big bass. Obviously every situation is a little different. My personal best of 6-12. I thought for sure she was going to go between 7 and 8 and I would not of mounted it. I caught it out of a private pond that I get to fish a lot. So in my mind I have a very realistic chance of catching that fish again. So it wasn't mount worthy in my mind. However, I fish a small local lake(70 acres) if I drag an 8 out of there a replica is going on the wall. 7-8 is kind of small for Texas, but IMO that is a nice fish and if I end up mounting several of that size that would be cool. If I was not in a situation where I could afford to mount several fish I would probably set my mark at 10 lbs. I just think it would be really cool to mount every fish I ever caught over 8lbs. IMO that would make a cool room. I understand the logic of setting mounting marks really high, but sometimes I think people are unrealistic about it and setting themselves up for failure. I know a guy that GUIDES on Fork and has only caught 1 over 10lbs. Plus, if I mount 5 that weigh 8 and then catch a 12 I guarantee you that i'll still mount the 12 and the 8's will not be any less special to me.
  25. Beavers, but brush hogs and baby brush hogs are coming fast. I've been using allurning baits version of the baby brush hog anb been killing them. The garlic scent he puts in them is awesome .
