Lowrance HDS 7 losing depth display in rough water
It's not the transducer. As far as I know, this was/is a common problem AFTER the update was performed. Both of mine were just fine BEFORE I had this stupid update done and now they lose depth and sometimes shut down and restart while I'm running. I mainly run mine as chart plotter and fish my flashers anyway so I'm not bothered by it quite so much but I do know the frustration. IF you are certain it's the transducer, go ahead and replace but I'm just saying it might not be.

Impulse purchase Falcon JC Finesse spinning rod
I prefer the term "sissy stick" but whatever works...just saying! Don't use either around the walleye guys though, they can be a little sensitive about this? Nice sissy rig!

New reel needed for jerk baits
If you don't want to spend quite so much, there is a Daiwa Tatula CT that will fit any need. I love my HSTA's, Fuego's and TD-Z's but my Tatula's are better casters in most situations! The more I use mine the more impressed I become.

Noticed on fishing shows.....
I can tell but I'm not always right. Ain't never had a crappie mistaken for a bass though?? The easiest ones are the walleyes...if it feels like you're reeling in a tube sock, that's a walleye.

X Fast St Croix rod for jerk baits?
It is not only soft enough, it's ideal! I have a pair of the 6'2" M/XF which is same just shorter and my choice (because I prefer shorter) but the 6'8" is a real gem!

FC friend or foe?
I never bought into the fluorocarbon craze. Tried it but never got along with it and certainly didn't find any advantages with it. Count me among the dissenters.

X Fast St Croix rod for jerk baits?
Works very well. It's not what you think, go shake one and you'll buy it!

Anyone seeing changes in Cabelas stores that they've been to?
When possible, the best way to shop Cabela's is order online and use "ship to store" and just go pick it up. No shipping charges and you get what you want. I am continually piling stuff into my wish list and when it goes on sale I buy with my Cabela's Club card and earn points.

losing fish on drop shot
It wasn't "people" it was just me

losing fish on drop shot
I use the spinshots. #2 is just too small for those. I use #1 and 1/0. I have lost fish but nothing close to 70%. I use the same size hooks with standard rigging too, which I have plenty of in my dropshot box. Just been using the spinshot more often because I'm tired of the line twist, which even the spinshot doesn't cure 100%.

Path to becoming a better fisherman
Honestly, nothing proved more beneficial for me than meeting Roger Betts, who introduced me to Buck's teachings and then getting the home study course. Roger was a devout follower, a Perry disciple, and for me a true mentor that I owe my successful quest of becoming a better angler. Roger put more fish in the boat than most people I know combined. I was one lucky guy!

Path to becoming a better fisherman
This is the path I took, and I turned out ok. On my days off I included a little bit of Buck Perry too.

Lets talk tube set ups
When did St. Croix produce a 6'10" Premier? Is this a 7'er you busted 2" off or...???

That one thing you never thought you needed...
Same for me. What a game changer!

Looking for a sub 250 USD reel for frogging and pitching
Why not? This is a free floater which would be best for high load situations IMO. It's an OG Zillion with an SV spool. Pretty solid reel

10% of anglers catch 90% of fish- still true?
What's this all about anyway? Seems rather trivial. Hell, not me. I'm worthless with a fishing rod but I enjoy it anyway.
