  1. Sounds like a very nice rod! Enjoy!
  2. Nice shopping list! I noticed your review on the Cabela's website too!!
  3. I'm grabbing the Frog rod tomorrow after work or on Saturday. I've been waiting for this for awhile now. These rods are easily worth their regular price, a real steal on sale! Great rods!!
  4. Most of the rods I use for pitching are XFast and work just fine for me.
  5. Lost a smallie about 5 yrs ago to a Trilene knot. First and only time I can recall that happening. Lost a pig LM 2 yrs ago to a Palomar that broke on her first surge. I am to blame, not the knot. I know both knots to be capable, wasn't their fault.
  6. I haven't used that one in a looooong time but it is what I started with 45 yrs ago. I rarely even tie the double (Trilene Knot?) anymore, use Palomar 99% of time. Where I cannot use Palomar I do use the double clinch.
  7. It's true. I do pitch with at least 4 or 5 of my current rods that are either 6'6" or 6'10". I don't flip to often either but I do it enough that I keep a St. Croix Avid flippin' stick in the locker.
  8. I just bought an 8' rod for bobber fishing, and am thinking of getting a 10' for same. Helps keep line off the water for controlling drift. If tournament rules allowed 10' rods, you'd see a lot more being used. Competition anglers will go with whatever they're allowed and find a way for it to be an advantage. This IS why I'm starting with 8' for the bobber rig, so if I do enter an event I can use that if I want to.
  9. I'm adding a new one too....Cabela's Tournament ZX 7'3" frog rod. Should work out great for me for pitching w/Shimano Castaic on it.
  10. I think for most guys, Rem oil is a bad choice. It is so thin it doesn't seem to stay in the bearing very long. Even worse if you have removed the shields. I have had to relube after only a couple days use with Rem oil. If you have to quiet down a ceramic bearing this is probably a good choice for that.
  11. Wow. 4.7 oz is insane! What kind of line capacity do they offer?
  12. 80lb 24v will be better choice than 12v anything. I have the Maxxum 80 on my 19' Champion and it is plenty.
  13. LOL....man, that's messed up!
  14. I think I would go with the 1754. Get the biggest bow mount TM you can afford and have fun!! I want the same size jon boat for river fishing.
  15. Just do it. It's an older rod so no big loss if the finish ends up marred. I had this done to 2 older Team Daiwa Power Mesh crankin' rods. Turned out pretty good, some slight bubbling in the finish but didn't affect rods performance at all that I can tell. Because I like the rods, it was worth it to put better guides (Alconites) on them.
  16. It's same on my Champion. I keep the pee bottle with the cranking battery
  17. Hmmm...are you absolutely sure?
  18. Ahhh....some good starter info. Thank you all! I will probably try the ALPS Zirconium guides on the next custom I get built.
  19. Same, but I add Junebug and Smoke/purple flake to the color list. Dunno why, but the smallies I chase seem to like purple too.
  20. I see. Every other month it is then. Yeah Mike you can help , I was wondering if they had anything equivalent to Fuji Alconites?
  21. I just bought a new bobber rod! Very effective and very fun method for catching bass!
  22. I see they are no longer among the sponsor list...are they gone? I was kind of looking forward to their participation here, had some questions etc.
  23. "...and that is all the people need to know!"
