  1. No carp on drop shot for me, but I've caught some big ones fishing the run off drains on the river during a rain.....on crankbaits. Blew me away that they'd bite on cranks like that. Bomber 6A crawfish pattern is one they seem to like.
  2. Trilene XT on everything 6 & 8 lb test on spinning 10, 14 and 17 lb test on baitcasting.
  3. It's true. Use a Revo for a day and you'll be buying another very soon. Happened to me, I'm 3 deep so far. Hopefully next one will be the Premier.
  4. I have a old Shimano Convergence 6' MH rod I still like to use. I think the Convergence is a great rod for it's WAY under $100 price tag. Getting close to the $100 mark is the Shimano Compre and I like the one I have. Would definitely consider another, except I just like the Crucial's better now. Still, for under a $100 the Compre is a good choice. I have 2 Gander Mtn spinning reels (which are Pflueger as I understand) I have a GS35 and a GST30 and they are excellent reels for $39 and $49 respectively that I paid for them, actually quite unbeleiveably good for the price. Will possibly be getting one more soon. (I have been very impressed with what I've seen of the Pflueger's lately) I have a Cabela's Prodigy 1500 spinning reel and the Prodigy baitcaster ($65 each on clearance but still retailed for $99). Against the rules of this thread, I have not used these yet but am as impressed as one can be by a product without actual use of it, especially the baitcaster.
  5. Not only that, but a buzzbait?? Over 40 yds? I guess I shouldn't question something I've never tried to do but I cannot imagine throwing a 1/2 oz buzzbait over 40 yds. Heck, not even close. A rattle trap maybe but not a buzzer.
  6. Go PORK in cold water! Uncle Josh #11. 3/4 oz jig ....all black.
  7. Jeff H replied to dollarbill's topic in Fishing Tackle
GMAN's jigs are all I will ever throw until one of us quits. I've got his Poison Tails, Finesse and football heads. Best one stop jig shopping I've ever encountered.
  8. Excellent price on a great rod! You did real well on that one!!
  9. Not if you have Reel Mech build it!
  10. Sounds good to me. Make it available in 5:1 ratio and I'd want one. I have been thinking about the 5:1 gearing swap for a SX and adding the inshore handle. Would be a good crankin' reel.
  11. It would seem to me that it wouldn't be a very difficult thing to get used to a split grip casting rod, but I don't know yet and won't for a few more months.
  12. Shimano Convergence about $40.... Darn nice rods for $40!! CVS66M 6'6" Medium/ Fast CVS66MH 6'6" Medium Heavy/ Fast I'd look at one of those 2 and pick the one that feels best to you. My own choice would be the MH.
  13. We had an area lake stocked with Musky a number of years ago. Prior to this, the lake had an awesome bass fishery and it would take a 3lb average to get into the money, better than that to win. There was no dink problem here. The lake eventually became a well known Musky lake and the bass fishin' went right into the sewer. Those Musky took over the lake and they got BIG in a hurry. I got a 15lb'er in my last bass tourney on that lake it wasn't even considered big since the lake putting out a lot of 25 lb fish. I was getting "bit off" under docks all day. Haven't been on that lake in 10 years now. I hate "gators" 8-) Every lake I fish has gators in it and they help me keep GMAN pouring lead. I'm gonna get me a "bang stick" instead of a net.
  14. Hard to believe anything like that would endure 3 years on the market.
  15. GMAN's Poison Tail. He oughta call that thing "The Trawler". High end or not, these things will clean out a lake. 8-)
  16. I already agreed with you on that point. So again, you are right....it's not heavy, it's just heavier than others. It's only 2.5 oz heavier than the 100. It's only 1.3 oz heavier than my favorite, the Castaic. It's only 1.1 oz heavier than my Revo SX and TD-A's.... et al. The Curado 200 is a great reel to a good many satisfied people. I'm not saying it's a piece of scrap or condemning their choice. I will say though that my feelings are the 200 seemingly represents the upper limit in weight of the most common choices in bait cast reels today. Some may take that into consideration, some may not. Judging by it's extreme popularity I'd say most don't care about the weight. I just happen to be somebody that factors weight into my choices. I wish I could afford to run with the Steez and Core crowd, but I can't. The Revo Premier is the best I'm going do.
  17. We don't have to call it heavy, if it will help out. We can just casually refer to it as being heavier than it's competition. That sounds better right? Here's the reality behind it though....If you fish with nothing else, you won't notice the weight of the Curado/Citica. The problems arise when you have other brands in your fleet and alternate use with the Curado/Citica. Well, this is when I notice it most anyway. But yeah, again you are right....It's not "heavy" it's just heavier than what everyone else offers. 8-) Although, there is the option of the 100 series which is nice.
  18. Man you girls are sensitive... :-X Geez....I guess so :
  19. Geez Micro, did you even fish those Curado's? Didn't have them long, did you? They are just too heavy.
  20. You wasn't holding your mouth right. :-/ I guess not
  21. Wow! I'm blown away. I have one of the originals from the 80's and I never caught a darn thing on it. I wish I could return it. I thought for sure I'd at least get a "gator" on it, but never happened. I fished it off and on the first summer I had it with no luck. Has not been wet since.
  22. Capra's Sporting Goods, Blaine MN. It's a place you feel welcome in rather than like a statistic. They have everything I want/need and their customer service is KING. Yeah, sure I enjoy the trips to Cabela's (my 6 yr old LOVES the place) but I prefer to support the independant with my money.
  23. For me, by FAR, it has been the #12 Husky Jerk in Tennessee Shad.
  24. I love my Castaics! I've been using them since they came out and I've never "bumped" the switch or had any kind of problems with using it. The thing I love MOST about these reels is the Instagage feature. I have some older reels with the flippin switch and I've never used them. Don't know anyone else who has either. If any of you guys have a mint Castaic you don't want, PM me.
