  1. WOW! A MILLION THANKS GO OUT TO YOU GUYS Why could I not find anything about twisting the left side plate to remove it or any step by step instructions anywhere on the web to do this?!?! Anyways thanks again, the power of bassresource has worked again
  2. Ummm....how exactly do I remove the palming side plate? :-/ I removed the magnet adjustment screw there but I can't get the little adjustment wheel off...does it snap off?
  3. I was was wanting to take apart my reel(Daiwa Procaster PT100-4Bi) today for some relubing and I can't get the cover plates off! I took off the crank assembly, the star drag, the spool tension knob, the 3 small screws that I thought were holding the right side plate on but to no avail. I have no idea how to take this thing apart now. Does anyone have any experience w/ taking these or similar reels apart? Any help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  4. LOL, that second pic sure makes me proud to be an American! Nice bass. Also, what kind of reel is that? Looks like you switched from the Sol that I saw you used in a previous pic.
  5. MAN those fillets looks good! Anyways, I always pan fry my freshwater fish. Just a light coating of oil in a nonstick pan, coat the fillets in flour, seasoned with salt, pepper(sometimes lemon pepper), and paprika and you're ready to go. Wait for the pan to heat up a bit (wait for the sizzle when the fillet touches the pan) and enjoy w/ some lemon juice on the cooked fillet I've been wanting to try baking bass in the oven, wrapped in tinfoil like I do salmon....anyone tried this? Hey, could you guys post what spices u guys put in your seasonings??? dying to know!
  6. wow, what a HAWG! What did you catch it on?
  7. Typically, I do everything you did. I also make sure to check my lines for abrasions, lube up my baitcast reel if I haven't used it in a while and make sure I have all the stuff I want to bring in the truck/car the day before! There's nothing like driving out to the lake and having forgotten your tackle box or bucket or SUNSCREEN One time i was so $hi# outta luck that I forgot the sunscreen and of course I stayed out in the sun all day fishing which resulted in several sleepless nights afterwards and looking like a steamed lobster for weeks. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR TRIP
  8. *ahem* have you seen fish prices per lb lately? Can you readily find walleye or lake perch in your grocery store? Have you ever tasted fresh coho salmon or rainbow trout??? IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE EFFORT....imo of course ;D
  9. As of right now, my main setup is a baitcaster. I love the distance I get on casts and the ability to thumb the line and "feel" whats going on with my lure. I recently bought a spinning rod and reel combo from BPS. It doesn't even compare to the distance I get on the baitcaster. For instance, when using the same rig, the baitcaster casts much farther. Is this common for all spinning reels? I know the more weight on the line, the longer the cast, but is there any way to adjust the spinning reel to cast further? Thanks for any help
  10. I actually picked up the swim senko's on accident at BPS while in a rush to get to the lake. I thought they were the original Senko's lol. I got the watermelon w/ black flake I believe. My first time out this season I caught nothing on them and resorted to use reg. Senkos. After getting back from fishing today, I can say that the swim Senko's seem to attract bigger fish than the original Senko. Also, they seem to be a bit more durable than original Senkos which are like 1 fish, 1 bait chewed up. I caught a few 3-5lb bass today using it, which isn't too bad for Northern Illinois lakes. But, like I said, seems to me that it is more appealing to larger sized fish as opposed to original Senko's which attract the little guys and the BIG guys lol. But mostly the earlier before the latter..... Attached is a pic of a very healthy 3lb(guessing?) LM bass caught on a T-rigged, weightless Swim Senko I recommend trying it out...even at 6.99 for 10 :-/
  11. Well, usually, you have to scrape the scales off of them with a sharp knife. Thats after they're dead lol. Knock them out with the handle of your knife or pick em' up by the tail and slam them on the board you're cutting them on. Split them down the belly and pull all the guts and fun stuff out and cut the head off. Wash the blood and guts out and hand them over to the wife! I'm not too good at explaining things but if you search "cleaning fish" in a Google search, you'll get plenty of detailed explanations. Happy fishing!
  12. Thanks for the tips guys but to be honest w/ you, I'd rather bash it into fine pieces w/ a sledgehammer than shell out the ridiculous $8.50 shipping charge for a tiny piece of plastic that could be mailed in an envelope for <$1. As for making my friend pay for it, it wasn't his fault. He's new to baitcasters and he loosened it too much and the wind blew it away. Anyways, i don't even think that the part from that website would even work w/ it. The part on their website is from the '80's! I have the newer version which is located at: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=91122&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults I contacted the guy I bought it from and he'll probably send me another one after he finds it in his inventory. Thanks and happy fishing
  13. WHOOAAAA....actually the shipping is 8.50!!! wth!? im not paying $10 for a cap!! any other suggestions guys?
  14. Hey thanks alot for the link guys!! I guess ill have to use the spinning reel this weekend till i get the cap back....
  15. Ahh, I don't have the manual or anything like that. Anyone know where I can get the schematic?? I think I'm gonna try just going out and buying some kind of closed face hex nut....?
  16. Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster, GREAT info on this site.... Anyways, I went out on the lake today w/ my buddy and I let him try out my Daiwa procaster tournament baitcaster. Getting to the point, it was very windy out today and long story short, he lost the cap to my cast control brake!!! So after a failed search effort, I'm wondering on how I'm gonna replace it. I wanna know if I can just switch it out with something like a hex nut....not sure what size though. Anyone experienced this before? Anyone know the size I should get? Thanks for any help
