  1. Ummmm.. BPS Graphite Series IM6 casting rod- you can find it on sale sometimes for $19.99 BPS Crankin' Stick- on sale now for like $34 but I got it earlier in the week for $26.50...GREAT rod I won't buy anything else right now other than a BPS rod. They are built w/ quality in mind and have fantastic sensitivity for the price.
  2. ok, lets say about 10lb line and a 6.5' ft MH rod...pretty typical i believe. Just looking for an idea. So about what yardage would you say you could get on average w/ the scorpion?
  3. I want to know about casting distance. Disregarding experience level, which baitcaster have you owned that has given you the ability to absolutely launch a senko or other bait across the pond? I'll go first. Daiwa Procaster PT 100-4bi( the one exclusively made for bps) - pretty good distance maybe 40yds w/ light brake setting and spool tension down Pfleuger Trion: - casts about 45-50 yds max for me but much smoother than the Daiwa Oh, and btw, I'm in the market for a couple of baitcasters... one in the $170 range and one in the $70 and under range....casting distance is BIG for me. Thanks EVERYBODY POST!!!
  4. BAITCASTERS PROS:Increased casting distance, increased accuracy, typically faster retrieve than spinning outfits. Cons part not necessary....
  5. Any angle...lol, just make sure the reel is sideways and you give your cast a bit of a snap for accuracy and to prevent backlash.
  6. Remember to have a light touch and train your thumbs guys. Also, keep the reel sideways at all time when casting...it doesnt matter if its a straight up overhand cast, sidearm cast, backhand, or even 45 degree angle cast. Just keep the reel sideways and add a little snap to your cast, guaranteed fun and backlash free once you learn to use your thumb properly. AND ALSO DONT FORGET TO ADJUST YOUR SPOOL TENSION KNOB FOR EACH LURE!!!!
  7. usually I just press down the thumbar and pull the line off the spool. If you do get a snag when doing this, pick it out, push the spool forward with your thumb w/ the thumbar down and pick the knot(loop) out. Hope this helps
  8. The Curado compared to the price of a Trion...yes. I find that they are similar in quality and performance.
  9. Well, I see the Shimano posse is out in full force ;D I, on the other hand, enjoy an inexpensive, high quality, high performance reel much like the PFLUEGER Trion To each their own, I guess...
  10. I'd go all weedless and throw them deep in the pads and pull it back. Maybe try a horny toad. I'd def. go out with a SK Zero, and if that doesn't do it, get a Zoom Super Hog and try the same thing. I'd also try a shallow shad rap 4 ft. outside the edge of the pads. GOOD LUCK!
  11. Gamekatsu hooks have never done me wrong so I never tried them
  12. When is this stuff aired on ESPN?
  13. Here's a link to an excellent tutorial about casting with a baitcaster, after you read it I promise you will love them. http://reviews.ebay.com/Learning-to-use-a-Baitcasting-or-Casting-reel_W0QQugidZ10000000002050667?ssPageName=BUYGD:CAT:-1:SEARCH:1 The paint coming off on your reel sounds unusual. Try returning it if possible. Hope this helps...
  14. The swimming senko has consistently caught bigger bass for me than the regular senko....enough said!
  15. That is so awesome. Your enjoyment of catching that hawg must have been magnified 100x knowing that you made that lure.
  16. Yikes....if I shelled out >$30 for a lure like that and lost it......I'd die
  17. That topwater bite is elusive, huh? The fish look very healthy. I love the flukes but for some reason I could never catch anything on the dingers. Idk why because I can catch a ton off of *** which have just about the same action. Tight lines
  18. Gamekatsu 4/0 EWG hooks for all soft plastics. They don't dull out and they are strong! I purposely pull my rod tip up and crank so they jump!! ... It's like bonus points for me 8-)
  19. Ugh....I feel your pain. A couple weeks ago, some older guy came up to me and started lecturing me on how to trig a worm......then he saw I was using a baitcaster and low and behold, out come 2 of his crappy old baitcasters he has never used and asks(pushily) for me to help him out using them. This ALWAYS happens on the shore. Best advice is to just move.
  20. loosen your drag!! lol My best advice ;D
  21. I'm drooling....thx for sharing!
  22. Not sure about the first 2 ?'s but I think #3's answer is that on hot days, bass, especially bigger bass, seek deeper water and move away from shore.
  23. Welcome to the forum. Get ready to start learning! I like Berkely Big game 15#. I think it will suit your needs pretty well.
  24. Embrace the light!!! NEVER!!!! PFLUEGER FOR LIFE!!! lol It looks pretty sweet actually....idk, i'd rather spend the $150+ on a solid baitcaster, that just me.
  25. Bighead, how do you like it? Did you have several bites and misses or was this the only fish you caught on it? Also, what kind was it? Sry for the ?'s but I was thinking of getting one of their bluegill lures lol.
