How About Halladay!
It was funny with all the talk about how Halladay will have jitters like a rookie. Then he comes out and pitches a no-no, and only a walk away from a perfect game.

New Tool for Men
Yeah, put an acog on that thing and you could drive nails in from 100+ meters easily! Or a 68 would work for close range, lol.

Questions: Setups, Line, Extra Reel, and Equipment Care
I was told it can be rough on baitcasting reels. Can you use braided line on any baitcaster or should I check the manuals? What pound test should I use for a worm setup?

Thinking of ROTC for college?
My 2 cents (from a guy who has been in for 8 years, 6 Active Army)... I have had a bad taste with ROTC graduated officers in the Army. very few have turned out to be "leaders." I feel this is because the instructors fill the cadets heads and then let them get away acting certain ways (to keep recruiting and numbers up). I took a year of ROTC after I joined the guard in 02, and the way these 'cadets' spoke and treated a senior NCO who had served 20+ YEARS. Granted, not all are bad, but IMO, there is a better way... Every officer that I have had who was prior enlisted has been AMAZING! They took the time to learn about the enlisted side, and then became an officer. There are programs such as Green-to-Gold that allows enlisted to go to school and become officers. You can also go to school while serving; lots of free money and opportunities to earn a degree while you are serving w/o using your GI Bill. There are other options as well. Look at the job opportunities in each service and how you can apply it in the civilian world. Some jobs in the Army can't be applied to civilian experience; some can be, but civilian world won't take your experience; some are good. Air Force has alot of civilian related experience. Some jobs are only offered in Army or the Air Force, etc. Also, if deployments are a concern; risk, length, where to, etc think before you pick. Air Force typically have shorter deployments (roughly 6 months) and most of the airmen live much better than the other branches when deployed. Also, they truely travel the world to deploy. Army has longer deployments (usually 12 months), live a little rougher, and typically go to where the action is. So think about what you want. The choice is ultimately yours, just my 8+ years of experience.

Lefty or Righty?
Is it a comfort, power, control or some other reason as to why you fish the way you do? Mine is power/control. Certain techniques I want more power in my hookset, other techniques I want more control in my presentation.

Questions: Setups, Line, Extra Reel, and Equipment Care
Ok, so for the line this is what i did: Crank - 12lb Berkley Flourocarbon Clear Worm - 14lb Sunline Monofilament Green Topwater - 12lb CXX Monofilament Flourescent I want to try the braided line for my worm setup. However, I don't know much about it, but I've heard it can be a challenge and rough on reels. Not sure what to do.

Topwater Advice?
Thanks for the advice everyone. What's wrong with the hooks on the spooks?
-
What do you tell the "Hunter"
I tell them I release so someone else can catch it and to help build the bass population in the lake. They pretty much get that.

Lefty or Righty?
I think that topic was more on the lines of advice. My topic is just a general discussion of how people fish.

Lefty or Righty?
Which hand is your dominant? Which reel retrieve do you prefer and why? I'm a righty, but a switch-hitter depending on technique: Crankin/Finese/Some Topwaters - LH (better wrist action with righty) Spinnerbaits/Plastics/Some Topwaters - RH (more power when retrieving)

Excited for the mail today!
LOL, I guess I should have clarified a little more... My fiance asked me what I would want from BPS and then she bought them for my Bday.

Questions: Setups, Line, Extra Reel, and Equipment Care
I've been asking for advice about setups, and this is ultimately what I have come up with, what do you all think? -Crankbait/Lipless Rod ST Croix Avid 7'M mod 1/4 - 5/8oz Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier LH: 5.2:1 -Worm Rod/Jigs/Shakey Heads/Rigs Bass Pro Shops Carbonlite 7'MH fast 3/8 - 1oz Bass Pro Shops Carbonlite LH: 6.4:1 -Spinnerbait/Topwater/Buzzbaits Shimano Convergence Graphite Rod: 6'6M fast 1/4-5/8oz Shimano Callisto RH: 6.2:1 -Spinning Rod 6'10 Bass Pro Shops Spinning Rod Combo What line should I have on these reels? Right now I have Sunline 14lb Mono in green the Crank and Carbonlite, and Berkley 14lb Flouro in clear on the Shimano. I have an extra reel, Browning Citori LH: 6.4:1, which I feel is a better reel than my Callisto. Should I svae it as an extra reel, setup with different line in case conditions change on the water? Should I switch it out with the Callisto? Should I buy another rod, and make another setup (if so, what should I set it up for)? Lastly, my Callisto sounds terrible when I cast out, sounds like the gears are whining. I've read about reel care, but the task seems tough after reading the owners manual. Any tips on how to properly clean, oil and lube my reel? Also, what oils/lubes are good for reels? Thanks for the long read, just had some questions I've been trying to research without any lucky.

Excited for the mail today!
My fiance let me order $150 worth of gear from BPS. I have been eyeing the BPS Pro Qualifier 5.2:1 LH reel, went to BPS to buy one, but they didn't have the LH model. Since this is my crankin' setup, I can't go without a LH reel. So I focused on my worm setup and bought the Carbonlite combo. But my stuff is suppose to come in today, this means I get to play and reset all my gear! I also ordered 2 spooks, 5 shallow-mid cranks, and some shakey head hooks. Just thought I'd share.

Rage Tail Baby Craw hook type/size?
For baby, I'll use a 1/0 or 2/0 ewg gamakatsu hook. I prefer the 2/0 as it leaves a little more space for the craw to move to to allow for a better hook set. For the larger craw, I like the 3/0 ewg gamakatsu. I love the rage craws, they're my confidence bait. I like weightless as the possibilities are endless and I have found that bass like the slower fall action. I also like the weighted hook from the same brand in 1/8 or 3/16. It gives a more natural bottom swim action that was given some good strikes. This past weekend, I threw a Craw on a 1/8 chompers shakey head! I caught 2 bass in 10 minutes. I've also tried t-rigged, which hasn't been productive. I either drag the craw on the bottom slow-to moderate retrieve, slow yo-yo action, or I'll swim it at a steady retrieve middle to top of the water. I am a HUGE fane of the rage craws!

Ever wonder if fishing is not your thing?
Come up near the end of May in '11. I'll take you out. Small boat, but fits two just fine. I really appreciate the offer, and I wish I could, but I'll be across the big pond for all of 2011.

carbonlite rods and reels BPS
I was the one who got the carbonlite reel LH. It's not in BPS catalog or on website, I purchased in store. Nice setup.
