  1. I got a few reels that the backing on is 5 years old already. As far as how far to fill it, I fill it alittle more than 1/2. This way I can spool 3 reels with the same spool of fluorocarbon. THIS is a MAJOR money saver!!
  2. BEST LINE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has all the strenght and almost as much sensitivity as the 100% Fluorocarbon w/out breaking the bank. I've used every lb test rating and have yet to have a break off on a hook set but this may have more to due w/ the way I carefully balance/match my rod and reel combos. Remember to always run your fingers along the line every now and than to make sure it isn't nicked somewhere 4 feet or more up the line. I also use nothing but a Palamor knot even with 100% Flouro. I've found it helps to wet the line before tightening up the knot. Never had a problem fishing 6lb CX w/ a Palamor knot. To me it takes too long to tie anything else.
  3. Hey guys, I've always been a St.Croix, Falcon, and Shimano rod guy and just started taking a look at All Star. I know that the warranty on the All Stars can't touch the 5 year and Lifetime warranties on the other rods. But the fact that they are using a IM10 blank with Alconite guides on the ASR series w/ a $99 tag and Aluminum Oxide guides on the Team w/ a $79 is kinda intresting. I don't have a dealer anywhere near me to go and compare them to my other rods so I wanted a general feel from guys who have tried them. How sensitive are they compared to the Compre, Avid, Mojo, Lowrider, and Cara rods? How much heavier/lighter? (Granted balancing the rod will help that out) Thank you guys for any help.
  4. 10" Power Worm. Never tried the others but this thing flat out catches fish. If it ain't broke dont fix it.
  5. When manufactures are producing hundreds if not thousands of spools of line per hour your bond to get a few bad spools.
  6. Just ordered a one of each in the Wicked Perch. Can't wait till the ice comes off the lake so I can give them a shot.
  7. Well, I get into another sport. Snowmobiling. Nothing like driving through the white stuff having fun to make the days go by. But when the snow starts melting, I'll still have 2 months of down time to reload on tackle, clean, lube, ect.
  8. The only knot I've ever used is the Palomar. Its quick, easy, and strong. I really dont see any reason for using anything but a Palomar.
  9. I own alot of Lowriders and I use Power Pro on most of them and never had a problem with the line wearing a groove into the guides.
  10. I fish it like any other lipless crank. I like to rip them through weeds w/ 50lb Power Pro braid. In water that where weeds are less aboundant, I'll use stop and go, I'll yo-yo them and other times I'll burn em. Just got to experiment and let the fish tell you how they want them fished.
  11. I would normally suggest flourocarbon for cranks but since this is a duo puropose rod I would go with copoly. 1. 12-15lb copoly ( P-line Evolution is my choice) 2. 8lb Fluoro ( P-Line 100%)
  12. the name says it all. KVD baby!!!!
  13. I was under the impression that all Rangers from 1996 and newer had oil bathed hubs. Hopefully a Ranger owner will come by this and help out.
  14. I'd have to say its because its got the look of a high quality rod when in reality it probably isn't. I gurantee you it will not perform better than a decent rod in the $70-130 range and it sure won't stand up next to a $150-300 rod. YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR and w/ a $29.99 price tag, I'd say your just buying the rod to look like you got something special.
  15. Go ahead and put it on. I don't pay attention at all to the line reccomendations b/c you don't see any manufacture putting any reccomendation for 20lb test on a curado or revo or simular reel. However to save money, on all of my reels and fill half with backing line in a standout color like red or green and fill the rest with the line I want to use in a clear color. That way I know when I see red or green, its time for me to put on some new stuff on top.
  16. Don't ever have to worry about weeds on my trollingmotor, godbless MinnKota. Seriously though, if these work so great why don't you see the professionals using them. Just my opinion.
  17. I use nothing but braid for rattletraps. Instead of using a graphite rod w/ a fast action though I go and use a graphite rod w/ a moderate action or as many of the rod makers call em' : graphite cranking rods. Another option is to use fiberglass rods. Braid is great because alot of my trap fishing is around grass and the no strech allows me to rip it free of grass easier.
  18. I just bought 3 more Shimano Sahara's after I fell in love with just one.
  19. These rods are so well built you won't need to use the customer service ;D . The power ratings are overrrated. A heavy is a MH, MH is a Medium.
  20. Aires was a custom bass boat company which made very good boats. The boats were packaged with the same trailer as Trition boats. I believe they are no longer in business. They didn't sell many boats but the ones that are out there are well designed. I have 2 friends that both own a Ram2100 w/ a 225 Merc and they run 72-73mph.
  21. The Triton Explorer is not using the same shell as the TR18. The TR 18's hull is deeper and has more support thus the higher hp rating. I know this because a Trition rep. explained it to me at a boat show that I went to a 2 months ago. Now as for the other boats. The Nitro X5 would be the only one that I would consider. The 115 on the back should push it about 52-53mph.
  22. Either store them in a dry place or do what I do and replace all my hooks on my hard baits and worm hooks every year.
  23. I like braid on spinning rods for fishing for heavy vegetation.
  24. With flourocarbon I find that I'll feel the bite before I see the line move, hop, run off, ect., because fluoros are way more sensative than mono but not quite as sensative as braid. I don't even bother concentrating on the line as much as concentrate on how the lure feels. 15lb P-Line 100% for heavy cover and 10lb P-Line 100% for no cover to sparse cover conditions.
