  1. Congrats Fat Boy!!!! Looks great.
  2. Never fish any type of topwater bait without having a followup bait ready to go.....
  3. Sounds like the cast control knob is to loose, allowing for movement of the spool.
  4. Well that does rather describe it...weed line in 3-8 foot of water was golden. Btw when will you be there? I am fishing the 21st thru the 27th.
  5. Small world, I drive up there on the 20th for a week stay. Will PM you.
  6. Thanks Lund, yeah I should have just left it as "don't take anything which could stain"
  7. Not sure of the temps in the backwash but main lake was upper 80's for the tourney saturday, feels like bath water.....
  8. Oh, and one other thing. The boater is not your guide for the day, he needs to fish to win his tourney. A co-angler needs to learn to adjust, some co-anglers seem to forget that periodically. Btw, yes I am a co-angler.
  9. Talk with your boater before the tournament, each boater has their own way of doing things. Find out what number of rods are okay, whether he nets all fish or calls for the net, type of fishing he plans to do so your prepared properly, don't take food or drinks which would stain, use lure wraps to keep from getting hooks in the seats. Keep in mind you are on the back of someone's else property they value greatly, respect their rules and property.
  10. If I remember correctly it was around 17 pounds to win in, this tourney last year was over 23 pounds.
  11. Welcome Weasel!! Well I survived the tourney yesterday, unfortunately did not have the best of days. Ended up with 4 fish to finish in 5th place. All in all not terrible, just not what I was hoping for. Was a slow day for almost everyone, was surprised at weighin by the variety of baits which fish were caught on. The funniest thing of the day was a guy with his son trying to put a jet ski on an electric only lake. Wasn't out for a minute before park police got him.
  12. Go Driod with 4G service, not stuck using what Apple allows you to use on your own property and the 4G service is extremely fast.
  13. Welcome new Sean!!! Great fish Bill, got to love smallies Tomorrow will be interesting, have a tourney at Black Hills. Forecast range from 101 to 104 degrees, with humidity will feel around 110. Will make preparations a little different, but should keep some people off the water which will help.
  14. Take stuff into the house, have dinner, and relax. I will go thru my stuff to straighten it out when I have an idea of where I am going next, I am a co-angler also so I change what I carry around depending on spots.
  15. While 6.4 to 1 will work just fine, my preference is 7 to 1.
  16. Recently switched to Invisx 8lb on one of my spinning setups, I use KVD L&L the night before and have been extremely happen with it. My other spinning setups have Yozuri, can't go wrong there at all. The thing that annoys me with braid/leader is having to tie the extra knot.
  17. I could post pictures from March of this year when I took a chatterbait to the face, fortunately is hit at my chin. After the hospital's maintenance guy cut the hook they cut the rest of it out of my face. Once out it to 6 stitches to close the hole. I never saw or heard it coming, a little higher or lower and things could have been much worse. These things happen, better to be safe then sorry.
  18. It was an amazing storm, glad to hear everyone is safe.
  19. Still a lot of power outages, several hundred traffic lights around the country are still out making this mornings commute for a lot of people miserable. As you drive around you see lots of trees down, some in the roads. That was a rather amazing storm.
  20. The "How to setup a baitcaster" video is a great place to start, after that its practice, practice and practice some more. Don't give up, the greatest things you will ever achieve in life are the things you work for.
  21. They do not get the "lower price with a two year contract" deals, they pay full price for the phones and get to pick what wireless company to contact via. A phone we pay 299 for with contract may cost 600-700 dollars at full price.
  22. Welcome, great to see another member in the area. Check out the Northeast section of the forum, there is a Maryland Who's Who thread. A lot of good information and posting from a growing group of guys in the area.
  23. Its also easier to televise a golf tourney than fishing. Getting TV time means viewers so you get ad space.
  24. Unfortunately there are to many fisherman who fit that description, being rude, disobeying the rules, sneaking in to fish private places, and such. It is normal in life, 1000 people do good, 1 does bad and only the bad is remembered. We can only continue to not fit that stereotype and hope more people follow.
  25. Nice work, our club got pushed to launch at 8am, fished until 4
