  1. Hellbender, yes I weigh that much slaynbass, sure you can ride with me. just need to make sure who will be there and make sure everyone has a ride. Will give us a chance to talk about the club. Btw, Hellbender man joined this year and was a 2 time event winner including one on Black Hills.
  2. slaynbass, I am 220 pounds and I fish out of his boat. Can we get an idea of who is coming and if you have a boat? I personally have lost track at this point. this is what I know so far (if you need to add your name copy/paste this list into your post and add your name to the end so we have a running list) brianinmd hellbenderman slaynbass365 wv lee.md
  3. Its Sunday at 9am
  4. Got out yesterday on the upper Potomac out of Edwards Ferry. The bite was extremely slow for some reason, did manage a few smallies. However the highlight of the day was a 4lb largemouth on a crankbait. Rather surprised to get a LM of that size in that area of the river. The water was higher than normal for this time of the year and still cloudy, not sure why.
  5. slaynbass365, I am part of a club called Fish On Bass Anglers, www.fishonbassanglers.com. We are based out of the Germantown area. We do tourney's at Black Hills, lower Potomac, Lake Anna, Lake Gaston, Deep Creek, Conowingo, and Smith Mountain (some years). We just had our last tourney of this year, but the November meeting starts discussions on next year. The meetings are always the first Wednesday of the month. If you are interested let me know if you have any questions, would suggest coming to the meeting to get used to how things work. It is a great group of guys, I have learned a lot over the last two years.
  6. Hockey has started so I am happy....
  7. Am I scaring you off again Sean, have not hardly fished with you this year. Don't worry you can make it up to me by joining my club next year I will be there, 9 sounds good. I will be in a black Nissan Titan with a red Ranger 520VX. WV, sending you a PM with my phone number if you have any questions on how to get there let me know.
  8. Plans are to still do it, just need to confirm what time to meet and once we get there who is fishing with who.
  9. Definitely a 7:x reel, and the longest rod you are comfortable with. The speed and length will get the slack out of the line on hook sets. My main jig rod is a Dobyns SS734C with a Revo STX 7:1.
  10. As others said go to a community college to get the generic courses out of the way. A lot easier doing your english and other required courses in classes of 25 instead of several hundred. This will save a lot of money, gives you a chance to get the GPA set, and when you graduate from a 4 year school later there is no asterisk because of your community college years. You get the same degree as everyone who went there 4 years.
  11. It won't be rough, just won't be up to par on boat control and positioning since I am not used to running the front of the boat. But will be a good place to get an idea before going to the river for the first time. Got the inspection done, off to the DMV at lunch today to hopefully get it registered and get tags. Everything should be in order but you never know going there. Then just wait for the DNR to send me the boat registration. I will get in touch when I am going out I am sure we will figure something out. Hopefully the weather is good on the 16th and we can all finally meet.
  12. Thanks, hopefully after tomorrow the inspection and DMV paperwork will be completed. Then just wait for DNR to send me the boat registration back, and I will be ready to go. I just pity who gets stuck with me, will be my first day on the front of a boat....
  13. Sorry slaynbass365, I did not see your post until I was over at the boat. I took a quick look but could not figure out it, unfortunately it started raining so did not have much time anyway. I decided to take it to Maryland Offshore, there is a guy there my club highly recommends. They will fix the lights, give it a look over and take it for the inspection. Under a time crunch to get the previous owner his tags back so this is my best option right now. WV, not to confuse things but if you come down 28 there is a right turn onto 117 if you take that it will run you right into the lake. When you get to a stop sign at a T intersection take a left this is 121. You will pass over the lake, about 3 miles up there is a set of S turns with Old Baltimore RD in the middle (its right after a big set of open fields on your right. Take the right onto Old Baltimore RD and the park entrance is on your right. The boat ramp is the first right after pass by the little building in the middle of the road.
  14. Just keep fishing your strengths, changing things would only make it worse. I started off the first half of this season great and was leading the AOY for my clubs co-anglers(yes I am just a lowly co-angler). Then I had two bad tourney's in a row, actually two complete skunks, no idea why. The last two tourney's I have finished 4th, then won. Everyone goes thru slumps, keep plugging along.
  15. Yep I am sure I need it inspected, in Maryland it has to be registered and tagged thru the DMV. Since I bought it used it has to be inspected before they will register it.
  16. If all goes well I will have my new boat ready by the 16th, picked up a 2000 Ranger 520vx Comanche yesterday. Only issue is the two small marker lights on the front of the trailer fenders are out. Previously owner said they are intermittent. So much rain not sure when I can look at them. If anyone knows a decent inspection place near Damascus please let me know. May just take it in and let them fix them and inspect it.
  17. Got everything ready to buy a boat, put a note on my clubs forums to let me know if they know of any boats for sale, and gave an idea of what I was looking for. Well one of the club guys said to make him an offer, thought he was joking but he was not. It is a 2000 Ranger 520vx with a 225hp Mercury Optimax, 101lb thrust MinnKota, and Lowrance HDS5 at the console and bow. I have fished out of this boat is several tourneys with the previous owner, runs great. Now just have to figure out where to get the trailer inspected and get the registration done so the fun can begin.
  18. If it is not the 2nd, next time for me would be the 16th
  19. For your price range and what you need it for do not even bother paying the premium for an Apple laptop. There should be plenty of options with a windows system, load Firefox as your internet browser with ****, **** Plus and be smart with your surfing. You will be fine with it, stopping by a Best Buy is a good idea. And yes the Apple "never getting a virus" is untrue, why bother writing something to infect a small percentage of systems when you can infect a huge number more. As for their actual security, in a test of a new, patched Apple system it took 8 minutes for the tester to completely pown it.
  20. For the kind of money they are asking for and potentially losing the deposit due to rain I do not see it being worth it...
  21. Took a look..... Boat itself is in decent shape but trailer will need work to replace the fenders. Could not take a test run, it had 8 inches of water sitting in it. The bilge ran the battery dead and he had the plug in during Earl. He is taking it to the marine shop for a good going over.
  22. The xB should not have a ground clearance issue, the regular xB's have the same ground clearance as a normal car. The release series version I have and someone else mentioned are lowered 1.5 inches but I have not had any issues.
  23. It has not been garaged kept, but it has been covered. I have been told it appears to be in great shape, it is stored at another club members place along with several other boats from the club. The one thing each of them says is it does not be used hardly at all. I should go see it this weekend if it looks good I have a marine mechanic who would give it a complete check. The current owner has not advertised it for sale, only came up after a tourney and he is giving me first look at it.
  24. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on a 2000 Triton TR19, it has a 150HP Johnson. Not sure what else it has, a club member who has been having some health issues. The motor only has 40 hours on it total. I know the motor is not the highest HP the platform will take which is a concern. I am not looking for outright speed, would be my first boat, more concerned with stability and something easy to drive. The last time it was used was 2 weeks ago and supposedly no issues. He is currently asking 8k for it.
  25. I am with Stasher1, go with the xB. I also have a Release Series 7.0. I have 7ft 6in rods which fit with no issue, it has plenty of room and gets about 28mpg.
