  1. please tell me which of my previous lures look bad! ;D really, i dont think any of them look bad, but i do agree that these are my best. as for the photo finish, the picture is printed either on printer paper or tissue paper and then applied either to foil or foil tape and then applied to the bait. epoxy clear coat. after dinner tonight i am going to thin the epoxy with denatured alcohol so that it is thin and easy to brush and then put epoxy on these bad boys!
  2. my dad drives a 2000 nissan fronteir 2WD 4 cylinder. your's puts his to shame ;D
  3. ;D THAT'S FUNNY RIGHT THERE!!! ;D
  4. i wouldn't say there is a "best" but the easiest to use is foil tape. it is not necessary to get the foil to go around the whole bait. in fact, it kind of messes up the foil job if you try to get it to go all the way around. if you try to cover it all in foil, the foil will wrinkle because it can not conform to curves and contors of the bait. it would be like trying to wrap a piece of paper around a golf ball without getting any wrinkles in the paper....pretty impossible. i try to get the foil to completley cover the face of the lure (flat sides) and then just cover a little bit of the back and belly (like you have done....maybe a little bit more though). maybe you are trying to use contrasting colors to add some attracting qualities to the bait, but if not, you should really try to match the color of the back and belly a little better to the foil image. it will really make the bait look a whole lot nicer. i hope i'm not coming off sounding rude or anything, because i'm not trying to say your baits are bad, im just giving you suggestions for improvement but it sounds like these swim pretty good! the action is what catches fish, not the paint! keep at it man!
  5. thanks! the only thing i painted on that bluegill is the back and belly. its called a photofinish.
  6. thanks for the compliments guys! i got a new batch of swimbaits coming up. see em in the tackle making section
  7. heres a new batch i have been workin on the past two days. (the individual shots dont show the baits with eyes, the bluegills doesnt have 3-D eyes)
  8. these are just a 20 dollar pair from walmart. i have tried using rubbing alcohol and windex, neither one of them took off the spots. i guess i'll just live with spots because im not going to spend a whole bunch of money to take them off when i could probably buy a new pair for the same price.
  9. GOOD QUESTION! this was the first one of this style i made. im running out to the dollar store to pick up some spray paint so i can make more! thanks for all the comments guys!
  10. You use a 4/0 EWG for wacky rigging? sure do and it works GREAT!!! the bass inhale the whole bait so i really dont see why people use smaller hooks.
  11. ok then, i guess i fish small public lakes the most 8-)
  12. i need some help guys. i got either fish attractant or bug repellant on the lenses of my sunglasses. i left what looks like water spots but they will not come off! i dont see the spots when im wearing the glasses, but if you are looking at me while im wearing them you can see the spots. any tips on how to get this off? thanks.
  13. i checked other because i fish out of private ponds that are maybe an acre big, public lakes that are something like 375 acres, and the potomac river and the creeks that feed into it. you should have enabled multi-vote on this poll
  14. don't be hatin' on the kid with the small face! ;D they might be a lil' big, but i like the fact that they block out all perephrial light. only problem with them is i got some fish attractant or bug spray (not sure which) on the lenses and now it left what looks like water spots but they dont come off.
  15. photobucket really distorted the video. it made it very grainy and difficult to see the lure. you can see the lure much better on the video i have on my computer. the lure swims with an aggressive, exaggerated, S motion.
  16. whoa paul almost didnt recognize you with the new name! why did you change? anyway, thanks guys! im still excited from catchin those bass! ;D
  17. IT SURE WAS!!! i was so pumped to catch those fish on my own swimbait.
  18. went out with my dad and my friend travis this evening to the farm pond. when we got there, i was throwing my first swimbait that i made, hoping to stick a hawg on it. then about 10 minutes after we got there, my dad hooked a really big bass on a 5" green pumpkin/chartruese lam. trick stick! he fought it for a while, and i could tell that it was big because it never broke the surface! well when he got it in, the fish turned out to be 22 inches long, 4lbs 4oz, and my dad's new PB! whats interesting about this catch is that this fish is the same fish that was my dad's old PB, only its about half a pound heavier! my dad caught this same bass back in november of '07. here is a picture to compare: my dad ended up catching 7 bass throught the evening, and i lost count of the order and size of the bass he caught. i do know that he caught two fish there were about 2lbs each. couldnt get a pic because i was on the other side of the pond. all 7 of my dads bass were caught on the same trick stick! that one bait still has a little life left in it anyway, about 20 minutes after we got there, i had already switched from my first swimbait to my smaller, most recent bluegill swimbait. i thought that this bait didnt swim (based on bath tub tests) but i soon found out that when you reel this in at slow roll speeds, it has one KILLER swimming action! it swims in a very aggressive pattern. here is a video of the action: anyway, not long after i started fishing that, i had reeled it back to shore and then killed it when it was about 3 feet from shore, and then started twitching it back, playing with it (cuz i could see it real well). then as i went to lift it out of the water to make my next cast, a 2lber just BLEW UP on this thing!!! it was so violent of a strike my dad heard it from the other side of the pond! unfortunatley the bass didnt get any hooks. i was so pumped from this strike though. about 10 minutes after that, i was twitching it around in the shallow water where i could see it, and a fish that was about a pound and a half smacked it but also didnt get any hooks! it was very neat to see both of these fish strike. 10 minutes after that, i was continuing the pattern that i had developed (reel it back to shore then twitch it around) when i had this bad boy inhale it! same fish: not big but boy was i happy to have caught a bass on my very own swimbait. i hate to say it, but ANOTHER SWIMBAITER IS BORN! here is another bass that i caught on the swimbait: here is my biggest bass of the night. i caught it on my swimbait when i was twitching it alongside the dock. when the lure was about a foot from shore, he ate this thing. my buddy travis was havin some issues with his reel (viento) so i let him fish mine (citica). he really loved it. i think he's gonna be registering on BR soon and putting his viento for sale (nothing wrong with it, he just doesnt like the twitchin bar) and buy a citica. i also turned him on to *** when he caught 3 bass on a * and watched my dad catch 7 bass on ONE TRICK STICK. here is travis' biggest bass of the night:
  19. video of the killer swimming action 8-)
  20. Sam, i decided not to add fins for fear that it would stabilize the lure and make it not swim. UPDATE!!!!! i took the lure out to the farm pond earlier, and it turns out that this lure swims awesome! i just couldn't get the speed required in the bath tub. included is a video of the swimming action. it also still has great twitching action, and still stands on its hooks. video to come soon 8-) i was twitching this lure close to shore and just as i was about to pull it out of the water for my next cast, a good sized bass just blew up on it! but didnt get any hooks :'( then a few casts later i was twitchin it in the shallows and a slightly smaller bass took a smack at it but didnt get any hooks. it was awesome to see the two fish hit. then i caught three more bass on it! i will make a thread in the my outings section. i am one HAPPY kid right now! ;D
  21. i use the same hook for EVERYTHING. 4/0 gamakatsu g-lock ewg. i don't really see a need to use different hooks for different styles (wacky, t-rig, etc). i find its just easier to use one hook.
  22. i hook a lot of my t-rig fish in the lower lip too, and i have found that they stay hooked better when they are hooked on the bottom lip!
  23. ok that makes sense. but if you dont eat fish, how do you "dispose of it in a manner that reflects respect for the animal, the sport, and the public"?
