Dead Bass
i agree that it really sucks that he had a whole bag of dead bass, but i am curious, whats wrong with putting them in the water?

Bass REALLY like the Salty Trick Sticks!!!
i can get more than 4 fish per stick when wacky rigged. but heres a little tip, take a piece of 3/8" heat shrink tubing and slip it over the worm, then shrink it to fit the worm. then wacky rig it like normal, but make sure you go thru the part with the tube on it. the tube really locks the bait to the hook and you can get MANY more fish off one bait.

Time For a New Avatar?

that eye gave me some trouble. on my last bait, i painted a small black dot on some foil tape and then put a blob of hotglue over it so that the foil reflected through the hotglue and there was a black dot as the pupil. this worked great. on this one, i tried something different. i painted a green circle, then a red circle, then a black circle. then i put the hotglue over it. but the paint stuck to the hot glue and peeled off of the foil. i couldnt figure this out. then i realized what was wrong. on the first bait, the hotglue made contact with the foil itself, so it held strong. on this one, the hotglue was only in contact with paint, so it just lifed the paint off of the foil. after a little bit of experimenting, i came up with the idea of just putting a blob of hotglue on black construction paper and using super glue to bond it to the lure. i tried it and it worked great and that is what i used on my lure.

ok day!!!!!
pickerel are definitley the hardest fighters in my local waters! i hooked my PB pickerel and i thought that i had at least an 8lb bass on the line. turned out to be an 18 inch pickerel. sure was fun to catch! a lot of guys hate catching these and kill them when they do, but i really like to catch them!

Too Hot To Fish
Mosquitoes. You can't hide. They'll find you. he's right! the mosquitoes will get you. not sure about blacklights, but i do know that bugs are not attracted to a red light. night fishing is a great (and productive) way to beat the heat in the summer.

Want to start making hardbaits...
balsa is VERY soft. its easy to carve, which is good for beginners, but its so soft that any hardware you try to screw in it will not hold and it will rip out. balsa baits usually require through wire construction (a wire that runs through the bait with loops that come out of the bait for hook hangers/line ties). with cedar, it is harder, and you can use screw eyes instead of a through wire. the screw eyes will not pull out (if you put epoxy on them when you screw them in). i personally do not use balsa or cedar. im not sure what kind of wood it is that i use, but i buy it at walmart in the craft dept. it is a 5"x7" plywood sheet. it costs 97¢. i think the wood is basswood, but i dont think basswood would be that cheap. whatever it is, it is great for lure making. nice and hard but not too difficult to work with. its cheap too!

well i put the epoxy on and everything was going fine until about halfway through the tail piece and then i dropped the bait on my arm! now i have a bunch of epoxy on my arm that won't come off, and the finish is kind of rough on one side of the bait. i did my best to smooth it out, but it is still a little bit rough.

Jackall Mikey Jrs.
i've had good luck on the river 2 sea v-joint wake baits, which are VERY similar baits, but i've never fished the jackall.

yep, thats all i do. i take 19guage stainless steel wire and bend a piece thats about 2" long around a nail. then i chuck the loose ends in a drill and slowly twist the wire around the nail. it makes a nice twisted loop. you can see these better in my other swimbait thread (a swimbait in the making). well i just tested this lure out in the bath tub and it doesnt swim :'( BUT! it still has CRAZY action. the lure weighs about 3/4oz (definitley doesnt need any heavy gear) slowly sinks, and when it reaches the bottom, it sits upright on its hooks! on a straight retrieve, nothing happens, but give it a tiny twitch and it shoots off to one direction and bends at the joint. give it a series of twitches and it just dances all over the place. it walks the dog pretty good. i think this bait is gonna be killer for bed fish especially. this bait was very easy to make. it would only take me about 3 days to make one, and it wouldnt be too hard to make 3 at a time... maybe i could make these for production
