i don't believe in luck or superstitions either, but it seems that whenever the gas light is on in my dads truck when we leave for the lake, we do pretty good fishing.

i had about 20 little gills solid pecking at my feet and legs for a good 10+ minutes while i was sitting on a log fishing with my feet in the water. interesting sensation to say the least...

i get my basswood at walmart. its in the craft section and it comes in little 5x7" plaques. the thickness is 3/8" which i like for my swimmers. sometimes i'll laminate two pieces together if i want a fatter bait. 97 cents a plaque and i can get about 4 swimbaits out of a plaque and yeah devcon 2 ton epoxy is good for installing hardware, walmart doesn't carry it anymore but local hardware stores should.

i've snapped spinnerbaits and jigs mid cast before on 50lb braid. if the spool comes to a sudden stop mid cast kiss your lure good bye. last time i broke off mid cast was because my line looped off the spool and wrapped around the twitchin bar on my Viento, causing the spool to come to a halt.

using a wrench to loosen the nut on the positive terminal of my battery to disconnect my trolling motor i tapped the negative terminal. a ton of sparks and a nice burn later my wrench was in the bottom of the lake :-/ i'm sure that could have been worse.
