  1. I ended up grabbing a couple Mann's -1's in a firetiger type pattern. I figure it will do for a bluegill type color. That seems to be the main forage in this little lake I live near...
  2. You caught a crappie on one? Sweet:)
  3. Yep-, and based on the prices I have seen lately I got it for a great price. 499.00 at my local sporting goods store:)
  4. Cool- thanks for some ideas guys- I need something for shallow areas- it really hurts my feelings to lose a 6 dollar crank because it drug bottom and grabbed a limb. I'd probably use crankbaits more often if not for that...
  5. Guys, what should I pick up from the store in a shallow crankbait? I want something that runs just a foot or two deep for running through a cove.
  6. What a cool little boat:) Easy to transport, more stable than a small jon boat, and the 34 pound thrust trolling motor pushed it just fine. Caught some bass and even brought home a mess of panfish for the fryer. I can see I'll be spending alot more time in this thing!
  7. No sir. I would like to go up there some time, but it is south of there in a little town called Festus.
  8. Just my local conservation lake. It has a good population of bass and bluegill, and some of the biggest shellcrackers I have seen. Those redear are frequently 11-12 inches. What lake will you be fishing?
  9. Someone please describe a drop shot rig to me. What kind of hook, sinker and weight of line, etc. I am a bit confused, as I have read some contradictory explanations...
  10. Fishing tomorrow- what should I be throwing? We have had two days of rain and winds, but tomorrow will be low 70's and sunny with very little wind. I will be fishing a small lake (about 16 acres) with a maximum depth of 30 or so feet. I am sure the water will be stained, but this lake has good cover in the form of brush piles both in shallow coves and in the deeper areas, as well as some large rocks on the dam. What do you recommend?
  11. Do I need to order the "12v electric plug" from Pelican, or will the three prong plug from Wal Mart work? I noticed that the Wal Mart plug is a three wire, but I assume the third wire is just a ground?
  12. I just noticed that Bass Pro has portable fish finders- in other words the screen and transducer are together on one mountable shaft. Are there any good- maybe it would be a good fit for my new Bass Raider?
  13. Guys, I just bought the Bass raider 10E and I need to know what I need in a trolling motor? How much power is sufficient? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, NRA
  14. So I guess it is better to be overgunned than under. By that I mean, if in doubt perhaps 17# line would be the way to go so there is less risk of losing fish?
  15. Generally speaking, what pound test mono should you use when fishing heavy cover with a baitcaster and medium heavy rod? I have been told as light as 12, and as heavy as 20#.....
  16. Guys, I have only been bass fishing seriously for about a year, but I have come a long way. Now I am at that stage where I want to expand my knowledge and learn more than just the rudimentary stuff. I hear guys talk about power fishing, finesse fishing, fishing the slop, reading water, etc. Is there a website or other source that can break down some of these things for me?
  17. Do they still make the Crawdads? How much are they going for?
  18. Guys, I am looking to buy a pond boat. I have seen a few models, the Pelican, Coleman Crawdad, etc. Can anyone tell me which are the best buy, or if one is quite a bit nicer then the others? I would like one in the 10-12 ft range as opposed to the little 8 footers. I am pretty lost as far as info so any help would be appreciated, NRA
  19. I guess the 2500 series spooled with 12 pound mono would be a good fit for the Loomis rod? I know alot of folks use really heavy lines, but 8 pound mono is my usual fare, so 12 seems plenty stout to me...
  20. The 783 sounds like a great rod. What is a good reel to pair with it? I have a St Croix Premier with a Shimano Symetre 1500 on it that is really comfortable, and I love the size of the reel. What is a good match for that rod that isn't to big and clunky?
  21. Guys, what do you recommend in an all purpose spinning rod? I realize that some guys have three rods for each technique, but if you had to take one rod in the boat that could do an acceptable job for most applications, which would it be? BTW, let's keep the price at 300.00 or less. Thanks...... NRA
  22. I love the shad (black/gray) color, what is everyone else's favorite?
