  1. So the newer Citicas are considered on par with the classic green Curados?
  2. Wow- that is a handy idea:) Why is everyone handy and inventive but me?
  3. Yes- Thanks and God bless you and yours.
  4. What is the difference between a swimbait rod and your ordinary baitcasting rod? Also- what would you call a "typical" all purpose baitcasting rod? I am guessing that a 7' MH graphite rod is typical. Is that correct?
  5. What are the attributes of a good crankbait rod? I already have a 7' graphite medium heavy rod for general purpose. Now I would like to get a crankbait rod to complement my arsenal. I'd like to keep it affordable, say under 100.00....
  6. Alot of farm ponds receive very little pressure- I'd get there before first light if possible and try a Pop-R or something similar, and maybe switch to a unweighted Senko type plastic as the morning progresses. You might be surprised at all the bass you land:)
  7. Anyone seen one of these? I noticed them at Bass Pro- they are basically a fish finder mounted on a shaft with a transom clamp with the transducer at the bottom of the shaft. They run on AA batteries. Would these be worth my money, I'd like to use them on my Bass Raider...
  8. Well, technically not my lure- but my first bass was caught on a Rapala floater.
  9. Anyone have an opinion on these?
  10. My wife bought some of these last fall at BPS. I thought they were a gimmick, but what can I say- I have bought some useless stuff in my life. Anyway, after seeing her catch smallmouth, bluegill, bass and channel cats on them it convinced me they were worth trying. We buy the 3 inch versions in "smelt" color, and T rig them on Gamakatsu #2 offset hooks with a tiny bullet weight. I jig them near brush piles, or in the river I pitch them and let them tick along the bottom and keep a close eye on my line.
  11. I am new to baitcasters, but I just bought the STX. It is a well made reel, and seems to get a lot of good press...
  12. I have just started to learn the art of the BC, and I seem to have better control of the spool using the tip of my thumb just underneath the fingernail than using the meaty part of my actual thumb. Is this acceptable, or should I only use the "standard" technique and nip this in the bud?
  13. I guess it teaches us to not be too proud of our equipment. My father in law doesn't even know how to use a spinning reel- yet he catches nice fish all the time. I bought him a Zebco Omega Z03 recently, and he feels like he is using a Cadillac....
  14. Ahh, they led me to believe that it was with a spincast reel....
  15. Someone told me this the other day- does this have any truth to it?
  16. Which is the better reel? Or are they pretty comparable?
  17. Sunfish seem to be the main food source in my lake. What is the best rig/lure to imitate bluegill when summer hits and the bass go deep?
  18. What is the best buy in baitcasters for 200.00? Someone help me choose- by the way, I need a lefty model...
  19. Redear sunfish really like them. Catch a 11-12 inch redear on an ultralight and you have a fight on your hands...
  20. What is the best style of hook for a wacky rig? I will be using it for 4 and 5 inch Senko style plastics- also, it seems like I saw a hook for this type of fishing that had a weedguard. Does this ring a bell to anyone?
  21. I apologize that I am uninformed on this sport for the most part. No, I sure haven't caught one that far away.... sorry for my ignorance
  22. In terms of bass fishing, is 110 yards of my preferred line enough? That is what my Citica holds in 14# test mono...
  23. If you could only use one bait for the rest of your life, what would it be? I saw this in a magazine, so I thought I would ask it here...
  24. I am seeking a quality pair of polarized glasses that won't break the bank for my wife. Also, is there a "general purpose" lense color?
  25. I bought one on the recommendations of my father and my cousin. My dad is VERY wary of unstable boats because of his ailing back, and he is completely comfortable in his- he even stands up in it and fishes. (He is 6'4") My cousin has owned one for the better part of ten years with zero durability problems, and he regularly fishes small lake tournaments out of it. I think you will love them:)
