  1. We see them on Lake Talquin just outside of Tallahassee all the time. As a kid I never dreamed I would ever see one in the wild. We have come so far in my 61 years.
  2. If you are a B.A.S.S. member you can go to the Bassmaster.com website, pay $100 and sign up.
  3. WMD, I wish I could take you up on that but I won't be there until sometime around noon on Wednesday. SoFlaBassAddict, I forgot about Big Show Scroggins. He would be a great one. I would also love to spend a day with Shaw Grigsby, but I don't think it would be very entertaining watching him bed fish all day. I sure have enjoyed it every time I have been around him.
  4. I am going to Lake Okeechobee in a couple of weeks to be a marshal at the B.A.S.S. Elite series tournament. I was thinking about who, if I had the choice, I would like to marshal for. My top three would probably be KVD, Edwin Evers, and Gerald Swindle. Who would your top three be?
  5. After doing a little more looking I see why I need to spend some more money. The Wilderness Systems Tarpon 12 also looks like one that I will consider. I will be bass fishing but will also take it out on the flats for sea trout and redfish. The Tarpon looks like it would be faster but not as conducive to standing. The dealer is having a demo day in a couple of weeks so I will have an opportunity to try them then.
  6. Has anyone had any experience with the Ascend sit on top kayak from Bass Pro Shops? I know very little about fishing kayaks and this is one that I am considering. I just wonder what makes it so much less expensive than the Wilderness Systems Ride 11.5 that I really like.
  7. I use a 7'6" BPS Bionic Blade MH flipping stick, a Daiwa Tierra reel and 50 braid. Most of my frog fish come from either lily pads or hydrilla and the flipping stick allows me to haul them out.
  8. I'm pretty sure that is his wife, Laurie.
  9. You won't find anyone that can do a better job at a better price. The replacement windshield I bought from them is better than the original.
  10. A BASS sticker and a Falcon Rods sticker. Falcon doesn't pay me, but I love their rods and I wish more people would buy rods that, like Falcon, are made in America.
  11. I have a 788CI at the bow Interlinked to a 798CI SI at the console. I would love to have one with down imaging at the bow.
  12. There aren't many professional sports where you can that up close and personal with the stars.
  13. The Quick and the Dead Not the one with Sharon Stone. The one with Sam Elliott: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093811/
  14. You bet there are. Dad landed that fish and we weighed it. I was reaching into a bag to get my camera and when I looked up Dad was just about to release the fish. He didn't know I had the camera with me. I was really proud that he did not choose to mount the fish. My sister took that photo and had it blown up into a big poster to put in Dad's rec room. Dad passed away about four years ago and I still think about him every time I fish out of his old Bass Tracker.
  15. This is not great photography but it is my favorite fishing picture. It's my Dad with the largest bass he ever caught. It was 9 pounds 8 ounces. He caught and released it on Lake Jackson here in Tallahassee in about 1991.
  16. The last straw for me was when they quit racing stock cars and went to this IROC-inspired car of tomorrow.
  17. I'm pretty sure that is a cultivator. It's adjustable for the width of the row being cultivated. It would follow right behind the wheel of a tractor like the cultivators in this picture:
  18. My father, brother, brother-in-law, and next door neighbor used to go to Lake Cumberland every year in early May to fish for white bass. We would rent a pontoon boat and anchor at the mouth of a creek on the main lake. We would hang Coleman lanterns around to railing to attract insects that would attract baitfish that would attract the schools of white bass. Nighttime in Kentucky in early May can still be pretty cool so my no-good brother-in-law, the doctor, would bring a sleeping bag to stay warm. When the schools of white bass would come through and start biting the action would be fast and furious. I will never forget watching Jim trying to get out of that sleeping bag and grab his Shakespeare Wonderrod and Zebco 33 before the fish took off with it.
  19. I have a Pro Qualifier jacket (not the parka) and Cabela's Guidewear bibs so I have the best of both worlds. I doubt that you would be disappointed with the Pro Qualifier. I like mine a lot.
  20. When I tried out my 798 CI SI for the first time the other day I was almost as excited about the down imaging as I was the side imaging.
  21. Did anyone catch Fish Fishburn's new show? I really like the boy, but that show was just painfull to watch.
  22. Almost as bad as Daiwa's new logo.

Nothing at all like Red Skelton. Red was a classy guy and Benny was just sleazy.

Speaking of British humor. . . Years ago when my nephews were about six and eight years old they were watching a British sitcom on TV. Matthew commented that it wasn't very funny. Nick replied with disgust, "It's not supposed to be funny. They're English."
  25. Get a 55# Minn Kota Maxxum with the digital speed control and foot control. It's a bit more money than a hand control, but you will get a lot more effective fishing time.
