I would like to be a gentleman farmer. I see a lot of them in South Georgia. They drive nice trucks and bass boats, shoot nice shotguns, and, even though they are farmers, never have to get manure on their Tony Lamas.

I fished out of a similar boat for years with no problems. There are times I wish I had it back. The total weight limit on this boat is 440 pounds. I weigh about 240 and my boat handled my weight just fine. The only problem I ran into was that when I sat in the front of the boat, operating a bow mount trolling motor, the boat was a little tough to keep aimed in the right direction. I placed the battery in the rear of the boat and hung an old 3 hp motor on it and that solved the tracking problem. I used my boat on lakes that allowed gas engines but kept a weather eye out for boats making big wakes.

I bought a 5.2:1 Trion late last year for fishing spinnerbaits. It is my favorite reel. I prefer it to my Revo SC.

I have a box full of 1/4 and 1/2 oz RatLTraps. What size hooks should I use to replace them?

I have more confidence in a Senko than anything else, but it isn't my favorite bait to fish. If I have my druthers, and the bass are cooperating, I'll throw a white spinnerbait or a lipless crankbait like a RatLTrap. I almost always have a rod rigged with a Texas rigged Gitem Big Flapper worm.

Yup. My wife and I spent a lot of evenings while we were in high school watching the "submarine races" at McNeely Lake. That was back in the 60s.

We must be doing a few things right. When I was growing up I never saw a bald eagle. Now I see them most every time I go fishing. When I was a kid, alligators were in danger of being hunted out of existence. At one time this morning there were four alligators around my boat. I was raised on a farm, but never saw a deer until I was thirteen. Today, they eat the hydrangeas in my front yard.

I am a pretty chunky monkey at 240 pounds and I was able to stand in my 12 foot jon boat with few problems. I think you might want to try standing in this boat before adding the outriggers.

Al, Pflueger makes a Trion baitcaster that is a 5.2:1. I bought it late last year for fishing spinnerbaits and I love it. I prefer it to my Revo.

That's an awful lot to ask for a boat that old with that small of a motor.

When I was a kid my Dad worked so many hours that he had little time for anything other than work, church, and resting. When I was about 16 I started fishing and Dad picked it up along with me. The time Dad and I spent fishing became the catalyst that turned us into friends. We fished together every chance we got until he passed away in December 2006. That's his picture in my avatar with the biggest bass he ever caught (and released). It was 9 pounds and 8 ounces. I now fish out of Dad's old Bass Tracker and think about him every time I pull out of the driveway with that boat in tow. Every time I catch a bass I hold it up to show him. I can still hear him ask, "I wonder what Jesus is doing with the boys he doesn't love today."

I had been considering getting a 12' fishing kayak for fishing this type of water but, after seeing the size of the gators in Lake Munson. I thought better of it.

Man, I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. That was marvelous.

This was the boldest gator I had ever seen. She didn't move a inch when I got the boat within about ten feet of her to take her picture.

I fished at Lake Munson here in the Tallahassee area today. Man, the fish were picky. They were holding really tight the the old duck blinds and the cypress trunks and you had to drop a worm or a Senko right on their heads. I did come up with this one but I lost two others at least this big: Of course I did have some competition from this big girl:

I don't have a name suggestion, but I would like to know what you think of that model. I have been thinking about getting one for fishing in places I can't, or don't want, to get my Bass Tracker.
