  1. Wow I only got an 8/25. 38%. I thought I knew more than that. I remember all the later questions but the early on ones I had some trouble with. I can't believe I got the hoops one wrong. I loved that game lol. And I even went out and got a DS (well my wife bought me one) because I wanted those old school games like Dragon Warrior, Super Mario Bros (original 1, 2, and 3), Sonic, etc. Crazy.
  2. Hey Simon we should organize some texas hold em games when your around on weekends or break. My friend Jimmy has his own bar set up in his apt and we have a poker table that seats 8 there and play quite a bit. Would be fun. If anyone is interested in some friendly non cash, or even the occassional cash game chime in. I'll get you info on our next game and we can hook up. Or maybe we can arrange a bassresource get together poker game. Yea Simon I used to actually play at Hard Times Cafe and Brittanys Bar and Grill. Made the final table probably about 5-6 times in the year and a half I played but the best I ever finished was 2nd going heads up against a massive chip leader. My points were good enough for regionals that year (2 years ago) but I did not attend because of other obligations. I love me some hold em'. Bt, what do you fish for here in the offseason? I'm assuming it's on the rappahannock? Andy, what systems do you game on? Or are you one of "those" gamers that does the online play on the pc (wow, diablo, everquest, etc)? I am a avid sports gamer and I'm into anything football, baseball, hockey, or fishing related. I also enjoy the occassional rpg, my favorite is corny old morrowind on x-box. I haven't got oblivion yet cause I know if I do I'll be back to having no life. Not that I have one now anyway haha.
  3. Do your nephews compete in BMX events? That would be sweet...
  4. Hey guys. This is for all you Va guys who are going to be calling it quits here in a couple weeks (as far as fishing). Outside of hunting this offseason, what do you guys anticipate doing during the next 3-4 months before the spawn comes up? I did a lot of thinking and made some decisions. I decided I'm going to dedicate this time to picking my guitar back up and jamming out whenever time permits. Maybe try and write some of my own material and learn some new songs or some harder stuff I haven't had the skill to play yet. I get my new apartment in January so I will finally be able to move my favorite amp from my parents and into my new place (50 watt Marshall Stack) and really rock out. It says 50, but I can pump out the same noise as a 100 watt Crate or Behringer. I'm thinking I may try and grab a drummer, bass, and vocalist and do a cover project for three or four months playing at some local bars on Friday nights or something. I've been rocking out to Three Days Grace lately and only need one guitarist for it (could do a three piece but I don't sing... actually... I CAN'T sing). If anyone wants to hook up and jam I play primarily Alternative/Hard rock and know bits and pieces and full songs by bands such as Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, Creed (only because Mark Tremonti is a beast guitarist), Guns N' Roses, Foo Fighters, Weezer, RHCP, ACDC, etc. Nothing serious, if it turns out we end up writing our own stuff and actually getting relatively good and playing shows every now and then down the road thats cool but I don't want an official band or anything cause I won't have the time come Spring. Just something fun. Pm me if your in Nova, have practice space and would like to jam sometime. If you want an idea of the bands I used to be a part of you can check out the following links, these were the last two. Latter Day Parade: www.purevolume.com/latterdayparade (Best song: "Come to") Five Days from December: www.myspace.com/5daysfromdecember (Best Song: "The Number One Way") Not for the weak at heart (the singer... actually pretty much screams the whole time, except in the first band). So what else are you guys planning on doing this offseason??? Oh yea... you know I'm going to buy about a million books on bass (probably the in fishermen series volumes... we'll see).
  5. Good stuff. I need to work on my Shakey Head game some more before seasons end so I can use it more next year. Haven't focused on it much lately. Way to stick em'. Not every limit is a killer but hey at least you guys got on some fish and put together some kind of pattern with the shakey head. It's all about getting out, enjoying yourself and having fun.
  6. So is this the first New Englander / Red Sox fan outside of Mr. Russ that has reached this mountain? Woo Hoo for starting a revolution there buddy! The rest of us Yanks are right behind ya!!!
  7. Nice fish Triton. Great finish for Anna man. That is one tough lake (at least in my mind). Last time out I only caught two non keepers and one slightly under 2lbs. Was getting hits on Rapala floaters run shallow and senkos rigged weightless texposed. Looks like "one fish anna" isn't really that after all. I just think the rest of us got some work to do. Looks like I'll be working drop shot rigs and crankbaits next time out. Care to let us know what kind of cranks you were running Triton? Also congrats to you and your dad LAB, looks like you guys put together a nice pattern too. I caught my first jig fish a couple weeks ago, I know how relieved you finally feel to have pulled that sucker in on one of those. It takes a long time to get comfortable with jigs, I'm working mine alot more now so I'm ready to use it as a primary weapon next year. Good job to everyone that crushed em' out there this weekend. One of the best reports on Anna I've seen on this forum.
  8. Yup, back in mid summer (July). I ended up losing a real nice one fishing the deeper water with a jig. Tossed it out as far as I could from shore and let it sink into the weeds hoping it through. Probably hit about 30-35 feet out and I lost him about 12-13 feet from shore. Was a nice fish, probably my pb, but oh well. Ended up catching one in about 2 hours that day on a senko worm (watermelon). He went for a lb. A guy here on the forum who fishes mainly for trophies gave me some info on better spots to fish so we are going to try some of them out when we go. Hopefully we can get a nice bag. Alright man, well I'll see you next Wednesday if not before then. You busy Saturday? We are smallmouth fishing down in Fredericksburg. I'm leaving my place with my dad by 6:15am if you wanna head down with us gotta be up early. We are staying until about 12:30 in the afternoon. Gotta come back early cause the wife has errands we gotta do. Let me know. If anyone else is interested in this Saturday for smallmouth or next Wednesday at Curtis shoot me a pm and we can work stuff out. Later guys.
  9. Mann's Minus One series. Don't matter how fast or slow you run em', they catch fish left and right. My favorite shallow running crankbait. I also like Strike King spinners. Cheap, right great out of the package, just need to sharpen the hooks every now and then. My favorite is the Red Eye Special, I've caught more fish on this than any other spinner in my tackle.
  10. I second that. Me and some friends stayed at one of our ex friends house down on the rappahannock river. She has a private dock on Urbanna Creek which is one of the tributaries of it. Anyway, one night we nailed like 8 of these guys between 1-3lbs each and filleted all of them. Needless to say... they were freaking amazing. Some salt, butter, and pepper... add a bit of hot sauce... W00T!!! Sooooo good. Not one fillet got thrown away. Fish tank how do you not like catching croakers??? The fight they put up is amazing. As far as fights go I'd take a carp or croaker over anything else (freshwater or brackish). Though I've only caught two Striper and one was only a lb. I heard those things fight like the dickens.
  11. Yea lets see pics of the mods fish!!! Russ shows em' all the time. I wanna see some RW smallies. Don't tell me you don't take pics of those 5-6lb smallmouth more often! We want pics. We want pics!!!
  12. Caught one of mine in that exact spot. I like that little point at the mouth of the cove there. Theres a nice laydown to the left that I had tried a couple times that you have to angle yourself to hit, but it didn't produce anything. Anyway, nice fish! Always good to at least nab one, especially a good sized one like that.
  13. Where did this guy come from? Last week he runs back a 109 yard td return on a kick and now he has 3 interceptions on the second best qb in the league in ONE NIGHT! Absolutely amazing athlete. I hope we see more great play from this kid. I had never even heard of him before tonight. Not a common household name... but he's starting to be now.
  14. Nice healthy fish pk. Looks to be in the 1-1/2 - 2 lb range. I know what you mean about the tackle box. As soon as we put a pattern together at Huntsman on Sunday and I caught a fish on the trap, I lost it like 3 casts later and didn't have any other traps that size in there. I was so mad lol. Figure I could have caught a couple more on that thing. Anyway, nice catch. I don't have any spoons but I will be investing in some in the offseason as my friend Troy and my wife have both caught a good amount of bass on em'. Later man.
  15. Make it one seat folks. Alright Andy!
  16. I hear you on that man. Sounds identical to my wife. "The stare"... it's scary man. Haha. On the other hand she has days where she loves to go out and catch fish. For some reason she loves catfishing but prefers to do it at night. Dunno... somethin' bout night fishing with her I guess. But yep that, and when you get home from the store with a bag or two of baits and you bring your tackle box up to organize it, it's always "how much did you spend"? "Why do you have bags from TWO different stores"? And then when I lie about the price I get the stare again... and then it's "you spend 40-50 bucks on fishing a week... how much do you spend on me"? And I KNOW I spend more on her. Don't make me pull reciepts woman!
  17. Hey Dan, what are you doing the Wednesday before Thanksgiving? Will you be around? I'm headed down to Lake Curtis to fish the bank with my dad for most of the day. Probably early morning to mid afternoon. Let me know if you can make it or wanna hook up. We could meet at my place and I could drive down. I have two seats in my car if anyone is interested (aside from me and my dad). First come, first serve. Would just have to get to my place in Woodbridge. Pm for more.
  18. Well me, anglernfuego, simonsays, and ado124 all went out to Lake Huntsman this morning to catch some bucketmouths. Simon showed us how it was done early on by picking off a largie with a white/chartreuse spinner. I think he ended up catching one more on that spinner but I was on the other end of the d**n so didn't really see. I managed to pull up a 2lb 3oz largemouth a little later on a silver rat l trap, my first fish on one all season. Then Andrew also picked off two on a rat l as well. Both of his were over two pounds, one approaching three. I ended up getting one more bass in a cove on a purple senko rigged texposed and weightless. Then I picked one last one off while I was headed out. I took a trail into the woods and found a more secluded spot and casted my Mann's Crankbait (minnow colored) out. Ended up having a blowup as I was pulling it back up out of the water near shore but I missed him. Then about 4-5 casts later as I was bringing it by the same spot I ended up catching him. He only went for 1lb 1oz. So three fish in about 4 and a half hours today. Some decent ones. It was cool to meet some new guys and me Simon and Andrew are planning a little trip to Lake Mercer Thanksgiving weekend. We are hoping to take Andrew's inflatable raft out there, which would be AWESOME!!! Hope the other guys had as much fun as I did. Good job today guys! Here is the pic of the 2lb 3oz one I caught. The other guys may post pics later, I don't know if they took pics of theirs.
  19. Hey guys, Hey fellas. Change of plans. For anyone I pmed info give me a call tonight or tommorrow afternoon and I'll let you know definates. Fairfax is probably going to be packed due to the recent trout stocking and instead of being shoulder to shoulder fishing for bass with trout guys, most of us would rather have casting room. Plus I've got a few negative reports about the bass fishing here today so. We are going to be hitting Lake Huntsman in Fairfax. Not too far from Lake Mercer, you can find it on google earth. If anyone needs directions just call me. Same time, around 6:45 or 7am I will be there, just depends on lights and such getting through the main roads Sunday morning. Me and Anglernfuego are definate, so hopefully see the rest of you there. I won't be logging on here again until Monday that's why I'm putting this up. If you wanna get in touch with me, cell it. Hopefully see you guys Sunday morning so we can get a great report on here on Monday. Later fellas.
  20. I'm not sure of the stock date man but if you want to give em' a buzz just go to google... type in "lake fairfax va" and the link to their fairfax county park site should come up in the top five. The number is at the bottom of the screen I believe. You should join us, whether its for trout or bass. Either way it would be some fun. Let me know man. Like I said we'll be there sun up and stay til' about 11.
  21. Hey guys we do need to buy a license. We can do so at the park with visa/mastercard or cash. Bring 10 bucks with you as this is what is costs. It's for this week due to the trout stocking like nova said before. Eh, whats 10 bucks for some good ole fishing with buds. If money is an issue we can change it up. Just let me know if its an inconvenience and we'll work something out.
  22. Man LBH and I thought I was dedicated to bass fishing lol. You guys are hardcore man. I love the accents, makes me wish I still had my Boston accent. Just makes for fun conversation. Anyway, did you guys catch any fish that day? Haha.
  23. Simon, Pm sent buddy. Nova thanks for the heads up on the license. I'll check with the office.
  24. Nice catch man. That looks like it's right over by Freestone Point by the Leesylvania Pier... Anyway your boss has a pretty nice motor on that boat too. Looks like a cold but fun morning. Least you were able to get one. Would have done anything to be on the water this morning... but I'm stuck at work. You slacker lol. See you Sunday boss.
