  1. My favorite gas station across the street (Woodbridge, Va) which normally has next to unbeatable prices was at 2.87 this morning. Egh. Commutting sucks.
  2. Congrats Matt. That is a really special time and away from the forums you should be, these moments are spent with ones we hold close. But we are glad that you thought to include us all during this time of joy. May your family live happily and most importantly have plenty of family fun fishing outings as often as possible!!!
  3. Moss has been fine at each team he was with except for Oakland. Oakland had no motivation whatsoever, their quarterback situation was unbearable and they were a horrible team. Yes Moss has been a head case, and I sahred your opinion til' this year. He has a team that can win. He's the same as T.O. he's only a problem when the team is not winning. I agree with you on the Harrison part. It will be a different game with him in, especially if the Pats play D like they did this week. Keep in mind Eugene Wilson was also out for the Pats though. That will help even out the matchup a bit more. The AFC championship will be a good matchup if these two play.
  4. Only fish I'll eat are either Perch or Bluegill and they have to come out of the Occoquan. I will not eat out of any ponds, lakes or the Potomac. Especially the Potomac.
  5. Dad, I talked to Trevor, the lake is actually private and we would have to get permission to fish it. I don't know if I'm gonna go through the trouble or not. Probably just fish the creek and see what happens.
  6. Overall great book. Mike explains how to start from grass roots and become a pro. He is one of the most dedicated guys I have ever read about (bass fishing wise) and really gave his all to get where he is. You really get a picture of the brutal climb most of these guys have to make to get where they are (if they aren't loaded on cash). He also really makes you think. He shows you how to break apart situations very well and how to gain a lot of information off of just one element that may present itself when your on the water. He's helped me learn a lot and try a few new things. If you haven't read it, it's not a tough read and it gives you alot of info on the world of bass fishing. I finished the book in a few hours I was so pulled in. Aside from Takahiro Omori and Dean Rojas he is one of my favorite guys out there at the pro level.
  7. Nice hog dude. Way to get that Spook working for ya. Still yet to catch one on that topwater bait but I have been practicing alot and utilizing it. Had a couple of blowups but I set the hook too early and it came flying back at me. Good job man.
  8. Nice fish dude. Yea figured you meant the one in the bottom left. Can't wait to get on em' now. Now just gotta hope the landowners provide permission to fish it. I'm always aprehensive about getting permission from people I don't know. Anyway, let's hope Cedar Run works out...
  9. Trev thanks for the lake information. I saw it but had not ridden over there yet in my car so I didn't know if it was private or not. My dad and I thought it may be a private farm pond. I'll spend half the day at Cedar Run (depending how well I do) and the other half at the lake. Catch anything of size over there at the lake? The water at Cedar Run looks like it is up quite a bit at Aden Rd, the creek is at one of it's wider points here (as oppossed to 28 where it looks more dried up). I heard theres fish in here so I'm gonna give it a shot. I know the drought may have affected it so we will see. Oh well, at least now I have a backup with the lake. I appreciate all the information buddy. Talk to ya later.
  10. Nah... water temps are still in the 60's. Were you fishing topwater, shallow, mid or deep? Always possible to get skunked with a "few" casts haha Still haven't gotten out here and won't be able to until Monday or Tuesday morning next week (working nights). If your free one of the two and wanna go pm me dude. Later man.
  11. Hey guys, Well my boss asked me to cover night shift Wednesday so I am taking the morning and afternoon to catch some smallies at a new location some of my dad's friends from work told him about. Only TEN MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE!!! After reading up online on some fly-fishing sites and seeing articles guys in Va have written on it (hard to find on int exp) there seems to be some nice smallmouth in this run off of Lake Jackson. I am parking on the shoulder of Aden Rd, after looking at all the regulations and ordinances in PWC and Fauquier County there is nothing that says parking on this part of the shoulder is illegal and I see no signs on either side of the bridge. So I'm gonna leave a note in my dash and hope for the best, worst case scenario I've done my homework and could have it cancelled out in court if I did recieve a ticket. Luckily for me I have 3 hours of overtime leave so I'm going to use that and come in late for the shift since others don't leave for home til' 5 o' clock. Gives me at least 7-8 hours of fishing for smallies. Got my new smallie pole with Pflueger Reel ready to go and excited to try it out and fight these guys on 6lb test. Anyone else from the area try Cedar Run at all in NOVA? Looks like there is access off of 28 and Bristow Rd as well, so if it's not great my first time out here I can try one of the other access points another day. I'm excited because this is creek has limited access an from what I hear is not fished very often. Should be a fun day. Any advice from the Northern Va smallie anglers as far as what baits to be trying out? As usual I am going to have my rapalas for topwater action and shallow running (will work them as hard jerk baits), I will also use my Zoom and Venom tubes w/ jig heads and rattles and I may throw some 4" senkos and finesse jigs w/craw dad mini strike king trailers depending on how good the bite is. I may throw a spook or a buzzbait as well.
  12. I agree with the calls on both sides of the ball. Horrible officiating crew. That Moss call was definately ridiculous. It was one, within 5 yards for contact to be made and two there was never a push off. Anyway, it's safe to say this will more than likely be the AFC championship unless pittsburgh can act as a spoiler and have a great game against one of the two. But the next game hopefully will be better officiated, Harrison will be back for the Colts and we should have more of a game. Not that this one wasn't great, but I'd like to see both teams not banged up 100% ready to go at it.
  13. Hey Cory, bout a 1hr 45 min drive for me. Maybe not this season but next year around Spring time if you go. Getting tight on time and stuff as far as fall fishing so I'm trying to get in all the places around me I wanna hit before the end of the season. Getting cold quickly too, temps dropping pretty significantly in a short period. Shoot me a pm with your info and stuff and maybe we can hook up come March. Sounds like a fun place to fish. Later bud.
  14. I heard the bites not as pleasant either. I see these at my local pet shop every now and then. The one up the road from me in Woodbridge (Critters and Creatures) has a pet one not for sale that is about 4' long. They call him Goliath. He looks real cool. Nice pics.
  15. It was definately a good game. Factor: Pats D. Biggest mistake made was by Peyton Manning with a few minutes left. What a costly turnover. As everyone thoguht he'd march right up the field the Pats line found a way to get to the quarterback, a task not many teams in the nfl can say they can do (get to Peyton). While the Colts played better in 3 quarters, it's a 4 quarter game and the pats are a 4 quarter football team and have been all year. With the Pats schedule I'd say they are looking right in the eyes of the "undefeated" mark. A couple of key points... if a team can go INTO INDY and give up OVER 150 yards on penalties, have 2 TURNOVERS and be Down by 10 in the fourth quarter and come back to win... there is no argument that this is by far the best team the nfl has seen in a long time. And can anybody cover Randy Moss? Did anyone see that 60 yard bomb to the 1?
  16. Hey guys, Me and my dad headed out to Fauquier country today to fish a prviate pond that a friend of his from work owns. He was nice enough to let us fish from the bank in the morning while he was out running errands and then later on let us use his little jon boat to get out in the deeper parts with the trolling motor. His son had pulled a 7lber out of here and a friend had pulled an 8lb lunker out as well so we were looking forward to an awesome day on the water. That we had for four and a half hours of fishing. I had my best day on the water catching 6 largemouth and losing one more right at the boat as I was pulling him out of the water (shook off my crankbait treble). I also hooked into another on a spinner that I lost and had two blow ups on my jitterbug and a hard hit and run on my senko that I missed. So I could have had over 10 today... but I'll settle for a best day for the season at 6. I caught them early on a jitterbug and spinnerbait from shore (3 fish). The spinner was a chartreuse/white Red Eye Special. The other three fish came on a Mann's Shallow Diving Crankbait (2), and a blue/black Jig X jig with a blue/black vertical x trailer attached. This was my first jig fish ever so it was pretty exciting. Two of my fish went for over a lb (one at 1lb 1oz the other at 1lb 3oz) and my best of the day was 1lb 10oz. I also had landed two bass in two consecutive casts for the first time ever on my spinner today so that was another awesome first for me. My dad managed to hook into a nice 1lb 15oz largemouth on a Rat L Trap and landed him on the boat. He lost another solid 1 - 1-1/2 lber right at the boat on the same bait. The craziest thing of the day happend on one of our last casts. My dad decided to try out one of his Boo Yah Boogie Baits just for fun. Two or three casts in my dad calls for the net and I reel in and see his line running. It took him 2-3 minutes of horsing the fish in before we got it to the boat but then it took off one last time running under the boat bending my dads pole in a u-shape. I looked at him and thought he had finally hooked into a citation bass that he has been waiting for. Then we get it back around the boat, it surfaces... splashes/thrashes around and its a humongous catfish. This was the biggest channel cat I've ever seen anyone land in person. It was so hard to get him in the net we had. That alone took over 2-3 more minutes. After about a 10 minute ordeal we got him in the boat, me having to use two hands to lift the net because it was so heavy. He was hooked well and bled alot from the hook penetration in the mouth so we didn't weigh him but we snapped some pics real fast. We estimate the fish at 25-28lbs or so. My friend Jimmy caught an 11lb Channel at Mercer this year and this fish was easily twice as big and twice as thick. Unreal. My dad will post those pics later. Here are the bass I caught. The first one is the biggest, then random order there after. Later guys. The 1lb 10oz (Mann's Crank) The Jitterbug Fish Spinnerbait 1 Spinnerbait 2 Mann's Crank 1 My First Jig Fish:
  17. Hey Rob...shhhh! Lol. We already have so many people cruisin by stoppin lookin at us. We hide the fish and throw em' back quick whenever we hook up with em'. Yea but the rail should give it away if you know woodbridge.
  18. Hey Bassbum do you work for Bear Paw? I saw an episode of lunkerville that showed the guy who owns the company and stuff fishing with Mikey D. Look like some great baits, though I've nevere used em'. Do you have a link to their site or any info for us guys gettin' pulled around by the bait monkey? Nice fish by the way! For a yank you guys really do still have some nice bass up there. I can't find them here in Virginia... man I got problems I need to work out I guess haha.
  19. Thanks for posting those pics up Andy. I appreciate it boss. I'm looking to hit up some fishing spots next week during the evening hours including a new pond I found in my area. Haven't caught anything big there but heard good things from someone who fishes our other "spot" that saw me casting there the other night. Said 5-6lbers come out of this pond regularly and no one fishes it so... maybe we can hit it up. Sorry I didn't answer your call. I'm at work til' 5 man. Later.
  20. Hey Wayne, No disrespect just a couple questions. Are you a guide on Briery Creek, cause it seems to me you average between like 20-40 bass an outing. How long do you spend on the boat? Is this including other parties that are fishing with you? If you can figure out that kind of pattern and be that successful every time out, you must be a guide or you must be on your home turf. Either way, sign me up man. For a bit of cash would you be willing to take a young fella out and get on some fish? If so pm me your info I'd love to get out with ya some time down there. Though it's a bit of a drive it may be a great way to start off the spring season next year. If not no biggie boss. Send me a pm with info if your up for it. Later boss.

I'll take my Rapalas, Heddons and Manns anyday. They work just fine. All these high priced lures may be better crafted, but why spend 15 bucks more when you can still figure out the lower priced lures and catch fish? To me the bait monkey is already bad enough as it is. Maybe when I'm rolling in bucks like you big timers I'll change my strategy. But I can't afford to have a tackle box consisting of the average priced lure being somewhere between 10-15 dollars. I like my stuff just fine. I catch fish on a consistent basis and they are still some of the more reputable names in the bussiness (GYCB, Rapala, Mann's, Mepp's, etc).
  22. Sweet pics dad, where'd you find em'? I like the one of Papi and the one of Beckett. These guys have some hot girls too! Guess you would if you made millions and had a ring huh?
  23. I would have loved to join you guys and actually have been looking forward to meeting a lot of you this year but Guntersville is a bit out of reach for me and my dad this year with finances being the way they are. The first year we have it on the eastern seaboard and a little further closer to us in Virginia we will be there. North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, etc all places we could make. Just can't do Alabama with gas for the cars and boats this year. Sorry fellas. Have a good time and I look forward to an excellent video from you folks. I'm sure Russ or someone will have some nice stuff for us to look at when you guys get back. Later.
  24. I'm guilty. And I've been wondering the same thing. But I have been better when catching one - two pounders as far as keeping them vertical and not horizontal for my pictures as you can see in my avatar. Is there any articles or science behind this as far as something that's been written in a book or written by a reputable author?
  25. Now that's why this guy is a true home town hero. Varitek has always been one of my favorite Sox players. He's been there from the first run and then some. The guy is still an amazing athlete and a pretty good hitter for his age. Definately one of the best AL catchers in my book. That is truly something you don't see every day either. I think he was trying to show his kids a good example and such, and prove to them no matter how big or how great you get you can't forget the people who show support day in and day out for you. What a story. I'm definately proud to call myself a Sox fan and relate to guys with such honor and class.
