How light is too light?
I can not comment on that particular line as I have never used it. Fishing heavy timber with 2 lb and 6 lb line is very risky in my opinion. Especially from shore. I use 6lb yo-zuri (rated at almost 12lbs) on my spinning and I have break offs occasionally. I'm really thinking of using their 8lb test line. On my casting rods I use 12lb and 65 lb braid. I would use much stronger line.

left hand flipping right hand casting???
just watched an episode of The Bass Pros. Edwin Evers mentioned that he uses a left hand reel for flipping so he does not have to change hands and a right hand reel for casting. Has anyone heard of this? Anyone do this? Thanks.

maniac custom lures???
Anybody use Maniac Custom Lures? I received a few packs of the 4" paddle tail that I did not order (thrown in extra bc they ran out of what I did order). Based on the web site review it looks as though they are recommended for shaky applications. At 4" it looks a little short for that in my opinion. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Topwater in General
Get ready for a great ride! I think frogs are great way to get a feel for top water. To build your confidence I would start throwing them during early morning or late afternoon (they can be thrown all day too!). Stick with it and get ready. Do not set the hook when you see the initial blow up. I like to weight until I feel the weight of the fish (others wait 2-3 seconds). I prefer using braid and MH/H and fast/extra fast action rod. Good luck!

I feel your pain. we've been crushed up here (dc) this year as well.

dobyns champion - savvy?
Personally, I think you need a very sensitive rod for flipping. That is one application that I think justifies the extra money for a better rod. JMHO
