As an aside, I talked to my dad on the phone last night and told him I posted this thread here. He got a good chuckle out of that and he agreed, that rod has caught way more than it's share of fish over the years. I told him if it was just 6'6" it would be perfect to which he replied, "Well you've got all the stuff now, build that rod yourself." Think I just might!

I would have said my Gloomis gl2, but I just got a Denali Norwood and a couple of Cashion rods that might just give my Gloomis a run for the money. Lol So I guess I can't say just yet.

I have caught more fish on my 4'6" Ugly Stick UL than all my other rods included, Its gatta take 1st place.

Shimano Crucial CRC-X610MH X-Fast

BPS Pro Qualifier POX70MT, a 7' MXF paired with a PQ reel. They don't make this rod anymore-I should have bought several when they last had them on sale. If I had to fish only one rod, this would be it.

The rod that gets the most use is a 2-piece BPS ProComp with an old Shimano B-100 reel. The reel is as smooth as it was when it was new in 198?, and the rod has just the standard short pistol-grip. It is the kind of setup that does nothing really well, but it can do just about everything. The 2-piece construction makes it easy to pack or keep in the truck.

Dobyns Savvy SS693SF

I have a bunch of older rods that I have attachments to and will never let go but I recently got a Dobyns DX745. Oh yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about. If I have a favorite, this is it.

Love my two Shimano Crucials. Both are 6'6" MH. One is fast and the other is XF

My St. Croix Avid 6'6" MHF casting rod. It's by far the nicest rod I own. At the time I bought it, I didn't think I would ever buy a rod over $100 and didn't see a need to, but I got a heck of a deal on it (70 bucks!) at Gander Mountain. Now I like it so much I think my next rod I buy will be another Avid, and I would be willing to pay full price for one. The one I'm looking into is the 6'8" MXF spinning rod.

Phenix Recon 715C with a Shimano Curado 201E7 spooled with 16lb Sunline Sniper.

OR

Lamiglas Excel 703S with a Pflueger Supreme XT spooled with 8lb YZH.

If you were impressed by the 6'6" MH casting rod, that 6'8" MXF spinning rod will blow you away. Excellent rod.

Yeah, I handled one in BPS the other day and was more impressed than I remember being with the casting rod I have now when I first handled it in the store. It's just a matter of saving up my pennies for it now.

Man, that's a touch call. I have a couple that are right up there. I think that my absolute favorite is a newer custom I had built for a deep jig rod. It's on a NFC 805 HM blank, REC guides, to a length of 7-5. It's built on an 8' blank, cut back. It's a super jig rod for what I was looking for. I'm very happy with it at this point, I'd like to have another two built with a slightly modified blank to increase power in the butt and up the sizing. Currently, I have an Aldebaran on it.

Dobyns 736 and a lews tournament pro is my favorite set up or a revo premier. I like the 736 because it is my frog rod and i love to frog fish.

It would either have to be my 6-1/2' St. Croix or my 6-1/2' Diawa Procaster. I like the St. Croix because its light and sensitive, but I like the Procaster because I could land a whale with it.

Mine would be the Dobyns DX704c paired with a 200e7. Perfect texas rig setup.

My Ugly-stick, 6'0 medium action.. I've caught my All my big 7+ pounder on that thing. Got an old Daiwa SS on it.
