Been a while but I got out today with my dad. Tough bite. I managed two small ones and some perch on a jerkbait but that was it. They wouldn't touch a spinnerbait or chatterbait and wouldn't take a lipless jigged on the bottom either. Water temps were mid 50s. 

The clock is ticking! Right place at the right time. Used to love the bog ponds right when the water from the harvest was being pumped back in. Was always easy pickings.

I know exactly what you mean. I fished Billington Sea in Plymouth yesterday afternoon.  I came up with a good mix of LMB and picks, with the biggest Larry being 2 1/2 pounds.  Jerkbaits and Ott’s Slim 6 were the only baits they would touch.

 

It was mostly sunny, winds were 5 - 10 mph from the SE, water temps were 62.x - 60.x, and air pressure was 30.1.

 

Here’s proof that jerkbaits truly cause a bass’ reaction strike (one of my best catches this year!):

 

 

Good to see you got a few there. The place can grow on you. Should be prime time for the trout nextdoor also.  

Good numbers this morning from 7-10am.  Probably landed a dozen bass and 4-5 slime darts.  No size on the bass though.  Mostly around 1-1.5lbs.  Still fun.  Spinnnerbaits, Chatterbaits and even Buzzbaits were working.  The amount of bait on the bank is mind blowing.  Baby bluegill everywhere and massive schools of perch.  It was not uncommon to have a dozen perch nipping at my Chatterbait as I pulled it out on the bank. 

Went out Saturday and got a decent LM on a glide bait, and some yellow perch. I am going to keep checking the weather and going out when I can. Next outing I may try for catfish. 

Fished for three hours this afternoon from my kayak.  Only got three bites, all on soft jerkbait.  My last fish was a 6.0lb largemouth, on a superfluke in smoking shad color.  My biggest fish this season by far.  I landed it with my spinning setup on 8lb test line.  Swimbaits, hard jerkbait and cranks got no bites.

Better then me. Took my GS out on Friday for a few hours in the afternoon. 3 bites, 2 were pickerel, 1 1.25 lb bass. Saving grace was it was beautiful out if you don't mind a breezy 50 degrees, love the fall in the woods. The water was 51-54, freezing temps overnight. Weeds are almost gone, water is clearing up, crystal clear is some areas.

Got out for a few hours today from 12-3pm.  Picks are really chewing.  Landed 7-8 nice ones mostly on a white/orange Bassman spinnerbait.  Ended up with 5 largies as well.  Biggest went 3.12lbs (Vision 110) and the others were all between 1-1.5lbs.  Absolutely beautiful afternoon for Halloween.  

In the last couple weeks I've put away my gear, and cleaned up the boats for winter. Twice now I've reloaded the truck and gone fishing, looks to be another one tomorrow. I think this is the 1st year I've gotten out in November. Not much biting but it's just too darn nice to not go out for a few hours. High 60's during the day, 30's at night.

Gonna feel like summer again this weekend! I don't think I'll be getting out. Every time we get a crazy warm swing like this I seem to strike out hard.

I experience the same thing. I think the temperature swing puts fish in a funk.

 

Maybe stick to small waters and force them to react. That’s my plan if I can get out!

The stripers love this warm up.  Got 6 the last 2 days off my backyard. Missed many more!

Fished Jacob’s Pond and Hedges on foot yesterday and today.  Grabbed a chubby little Larry at Jacobs on a white/chartreuse spinnerbait.  

 

I landed 4 smallies and lost 2 at Hedges, all on a 2.8” Bluegill Flash Keitech.  I had one good hit on a bluegill Rapala Skitter Walk and nothing on jerkbaits/crankbaits.

 

Hedges still has some live vegetation on the NW shoreline.  I saw scads of baitfish tight to shore along said shoreline.  

 

Tomorrow’s plan is to get the Ranger wet at Great Herring or Mash/Wake, depending on winds and what time I can break free.

Fished from 7-10am this morning.  Got a healthy 3lb larry on a 3/8oz Basstek jig.  Got a few more dinks on the jig as well.  Then the big slime darts decided to start chewing.  Landed a 4.7lb and 4.1lb on a 1/2oz Bassman spinnerbait in white/orange.  Really fought hard.  Got a few smaller ones as well.  Tried flipping some laydowns and running the spinnerbait along them but got no love.   

What do you guys use for baits as we push later into November and the water temp drops into the mid/high 40's?

If I’m fishing deep, I fish blades, tubes, hair jigs, small swimbaits on bottom.  If I’m fishing shallow, swimbaits and jerkbaits. I’ve had good swimbaits bites in winter

Spent this afternoon at Great Herring.  I caught two SMB, both around 1.5 pounds off a steep, rocky drop off with a 5" Green pumpkin/purple flake/chart tail, wacky rigged Senko.  One small yellow perch made it to the boat after hitting an American shad LV500.

 

I marked a lot of fish suspended off drop offs and on bottom in 25' but couldn't get anything to bite.  I threw V110+1, drop shot, chatterbait, crank bait, 2.8" Keitech, and Yamamoto Zako.

 

Water temps were 60.x, winds were STIFF from the S/SE, and it was nice and sunny.  Air pressure was 30.3.

 

I've penciled in Cape Cod from Sunday to Wednesday .... hopefully I can figure out what the smallies are doing down there.

Frezzy  -  Suspending jerkbaits for a slow presentation, rattlebaits for the reaction bite.

Hit the Smallie factory this AM from 6:45 until about 10:15am.  The place can be spectacular late in the season.  She did not disappoint.  Best 5 Smallies went 20.12lbs.  They were in 15-20ft of water.  Big schools of small perch were visible tight to the bank when the sun was out.  No surprise the Vision 110 and 110 +1 in GP Pro Perch color did most of the damage.  Managed a few on a gold Silver Buddy 3/4oz as well.  Good luck this weekend fellas!

Yeah, it's a fun bite for sure.  It's such an effective technique at the Chu early and late in the season.  They cast a mile and can be easily fished deep.  Plus Smallies absolutely love them.  Only have about 3 more weeks left...
