A local discount store (Walls) has a small fishing section. They have, among other things, a very large collection of Yamamato baits, mainly Hula Grub and 6"grubs. They have a great color selection, and the bags are only 2$ a pop. Now, they (the bags) do look old; however, the plastic is still soft and supple. Do you think the baits would have any adverse effects from being old? Thanks

in 1997. Today they are in exactly the same

condition they were the day I bought them.

Open air conditions, extreme heat over a long period of time, or direct sunlight over an extended period of time can cause damage.

As long as they are still in the bags and appear in good condition, should not be a problem.

I have stored a big quality of Slug-go's in tackle logic binders for coming on to 18 years.  They are kept in the dark in a storage shed that gets darn hot in the south florida summer when Im not using them.   They are still as good as the day I bought them.

Buy em all.

My dad bought a 100 bag of Junebug power worms in the 90's, I found that 1/4 used bag of worms when I first started fishing and still have about half of them and they still stink.

Should not be a problem. Plus at $2 a piece buy 1 pack and check them out. If all is good go back and buy more. Or you can send them to me and I'll try them out for you. LOL

Buy them all for $2 a pack, sell them here for $3 a pack, and take the profits and buy "fresh" plastics if you're that worried about it. 

Even if I don't open my 360 tackle box thru the off season the plastics hold up for me for a year. In the bags, they'll be good to go!
