Best Morning Lure?

Featured Replies

I'm relatively new to bass fishing, I've been fishing for 7months now. But I'm just getting into going fishing real early in the morning and I haven't gotten a ton of bites on my buzz bait. I tried frogs and got 2 and I tried a spinnerbait and got no bites. So I was wondering what you guys like to fish early morning.

P.s. I fish at like 5:00.

Thanks.

Spooks, poppers, buzzbait, frog, anything on top.

Buzz, Frogs, Spooks in that order then I switch to weightless flukes on weed line edges around 630-7

A buzzbait is my go to morning bait this time of year. Make sure to reel it as slow as possible while keeping it on the surface, holding your rodtip in the air will make this easier. Lately with the water temps being so hot a chatterbait has been good also along with a jig or 10" worm.

Thanks guys I went this morning and caught 3 fish. It's not a lot but it's much better than my normal morning trip.I got one of a frog and the other two of a popper.

PopMax, Cavitron, Sammy and Rage Shad

I always start on top and move down the water column. Show them a different presentation if they aren't biting the "typical" topwater baits with a zoom. Keep the bait on top by retrieving it quickly and erratically.

Agree with all the above, one more suggestion. I would assume fishing at 5am there isn't alot of light out, one of my better "low light" baits is a black jitterbug.

I like swim jigs o be honest since bass are usually eating shad near the shore I jut try to immitate the shad in the lake, make it appea wounded and large and I usually get quite a few.

If I see action on top at the grass lines I will throw a dropshot next to the grass. Weight may be 15-18 inches above sinker.

That is the first thing I pickup if they aren't biting on top.

Rage shad, buzzbait, jitterbug, popper, spook. If those don't work, spinnerbait or fluke. Shallow crank is a good option too.

if im not having luck with spinnerbaits or topwater i will try a berkley floatworm
