Anyone use the Scrounger or Manic Shad by Berkley?

Featured Replies

Anyone use either of thee baits? Supposed to be like a swimbait and have wicked side to side motion /vibration.

Wondering anyone (even the old timers, cause that where it originated I believe, in the old days) have ever used it and how is it as a bait?

i know aaron martins kicks rear all over the place with this bait. saw him and zona slay them on an episode of WGFS. i think ive seen or heard of ike using them too.

to me they seem like a more compact/ less flashy chatterbait. i think imma get some... they have them in bps now.

I picked up some scroungers from Tackle Warehouse and matched them up with zoom flukes and some s-fins.  They have great motion to them and I'm thinking they'll be great for dragging/cranking ledges once summer finally arrives.

I use the scrounger with a sweet beaver rigged sideways to mimmic the profile of a small baitfish

3 and 4" paddletail Hammers work great with the scrounger..as does the babt fluke.

"Color" as in sweet beaver**

Penetration.

I have used the Berkley Manic Shad, but haven't used the scrounger. For some reason, I haven't had much success on lakes with the Manic Shad (only small ones), but have slayed some quality fish in creeks off of the Ohio River. I don't understand why I can't catch keepers on a lake, but I can catch fatties with it on the mighty Ohio. However, it is fun to fish with because even the small ones have absolutley NAILED it.

I second the brilliance of the sweet beaver with the scrounger. That is an excellent idea.
