  1. I've looked on Japantackle and Ichiban, but can't seem to find them there anymore. I see from the replies that the cork are disco'd. Anyone have a good place to buy bassart graphite knobs from?
  2. I love the Core50mg, it'll be great for finesse. Don't forget, however, that the rod you put it on is just as important. A M or ML rod is gonna chuck weightless stuff better than a MH.
  3. Honestly, the manual won't provide anything more helpful than the articles you'll find here
  4. I'm trying to put together a bc setup for finesse baits. I'm thinking about putting either a Sol or a Pixy on either a Dobyns 702C or DX 702C. If any of you guys have experience with these reels and/or rods, please share your opinions. I can't decide if buying a used Pixy that's several years old is worth paying more for than a NIB Sol.
  5. I use a Crucial and a GL3, and I prefer fishing the Crucial by far. It's also quite a bit cheaper. I learned the hard way that I'm not a fan of anything Loomis that's below IMX
  6. If you're looking for a different rod around the Cumara price range, I'd suggest a Kistler Helium LTA. I have a 7' mh and love it. It's great for anything from senkos to football jigs. However, I also have a Cumara, and it's hard to beat them in terms of bang for your buck.
  7. The split grip on these sticks is too small for my liking, and I'm not a fan of how it sits in my hand. I would look at some other options at the $100 price point.
  8. I picked up some scroungers from Tackle Warehouse and matched them up with zoom flukes and some s-fins. They have great motion to them and I'm thinking they'll be great for dragging/cranking ledges once summer finally arrives.
  9. yeah....I'm pretty sure he won with the splatterback
  10. Hey guys, Got a buddy who's wants a rod for throw'n jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. If he's going to be throwing both of these types with the same rod, which rod (brand, length, power, action) would best accommodate both? Thanks, Trav
  11. Boulevard wheat.......brewed in Kansas City. Can't beat it. Anything from Schlafly in St. Louis is good too.
  12. It's just not a good idea. flip'n and pitch'n is going on around cover. With a spinning rig, once you hook the fish, you have to use the rod to fight him.....that can be slow. With a baitcaster you can use the reel and winch the fish out quickly...not to mention the casting rods usually have more backbone and are much better suited for this application.
  13. Hey guys...looking to get a Lowrance H2O hand held GPS. There are two models I'm looking at.....a black and white screen and one with a color screen. Anyone use either of these? I'm just wondering if the color screen is worth the extra 90 or so bucks. I'm planning to use Navionics cards in it.....so i figured the color might distinguish depth changes a little better. Any input or info about your experiences is greatly appreciated!
  14. when they pick it up and swim at you........you'll go to move the bait or reel the slack in and the bait will feel weightless. It will kind of feel like you aren't able to reel all the slack in. When this happens, quickly reel the slack in as much as you can and be quick with the hookset.
  15. Huh....I had heard that they weren't going to make a new Mg and that the Core was going to be Shimano's only low profile Mg reel.
  16. That depends. What type of setup are you using? if you're using spinning gear then a lighter line like 8lb. probably is fine. But if you're using a baitcaster, 12 lb. is the lowest I go.
  17. I've been looking for them as well............no luck. Haven't even been able to find the heat shrink barbs. TW does or did have them.....but last time I looked they were sold out as well! Must be a d**n good hook.

Personally, I use them in stained/muddy water or cloudy days. the clearer the water and the sunny it is....the more natural colors I use.
  19. My general starting point is two. The only time I put three on is if I'm pitch'n. Once and awhile I'll go down to one.....if it's a calm day and I need to chuck a crank or trap as far as I can.
  20. I just ordered one of the Helium LTA's from Tackle Warehouse for 199.99 Their pictures of the rod don't exactly match up to what's on the Kistler website.......but if it's only minor aesthetics.....I'm fine with the rod looking a little different. I just don't what to be shipped a LTA that's balanced differently or something of that nature. I can't seem to get a straight answer on if the TW LTA's are different in some way than the ones currently being sold on the Kistler website. ......then again....it was 60 bucks cheaper than ordering straight from Kistler....which I don't mind in the least ;D
  21. I've also been a little upset with the paint on these. I kinda expected it from the strike king red eye shad because of past experiences, but I thought the Excalibur would hold up a little better than they have. However, I'll continue to buy both the redeye and xr50......they've been my best producers this year so far.
  22. I agree with burley.......when flip'n you only use the line you've already let out and have in your hand. Keep a thumb on the spool and it won't be possible to backlash. ...pitch'n on the other hand....can produce some nasty backlashes until you get the hang of it.
  23. Burley.........thank you for being the one to say that..... I once sat and watched a buddy of mine try to thread the loop through the eye for at least 3-4 minutes. It would have been longer, but he looked up and saw me........couldn't keep a straight face. soxfan....like the other guys said...make sure you moisten the line before cinching the knot tight.....I really think that people have trouble with this knot because they haven't cinched it down completely.....I've also heard that spit'n on it can prevent "burning the line" which, if I understand it correctly, could also cause break-offs
