Megastrike Cavitron Buzzbaits?

Featured Replies

Has anyone used these ? they look really good, I might have to try them out. I have yet to find a buzzbail I really like.:/

These fish great, right out of the box. They come with their own squeak built in, and run straight.

They are bar none the best buzzbait I have ever fished. Like John said, they are true & squeaky right out of the box. Also, they get on plane quickly and will stay up at a much lower speed than other buzzbaits

Do you guys like mono or braid better with the cavitrons?

I use 12# P-Line CXX.

I like them but I never catch much buzzbait bass unfortunately

I'm glad I know where to find them now.. bought a few on ebay but were super pricey...

I love the black skirt/red blade in 3/8 oz.. I've never tried the other colors because I always had super luck with the black one...

Those bass hate that thing... the strikes are so ferocious.. hang on tight or you might lose your rod. heee

I will tell you the white/gold blade looks awesome... I see on R. Martin's show he tears em up on that color..

Yes they do run true... and I fish them on braid, but didn't like it so much, because if you get a wind knot the lure slung off... I use a palomar knot and it happened.... I think I just had a bad batch of line....

Never tried it on anything else, but I used to fish buzz baits on mono line.... and I'm sure the guys could help you with some good brands... I use Trilene big game mono...

Top waters are something I want to focus on in 2013. I'll have to try out the couple lines you guys mentioned. I ordered a couple Cavitrons that are waiting for next season!

they have a lighter gauge wire which can be touchy. i prefer booyah b/c the thick gauge wire holds up better for lunker fish and it can be bent back over and over so they run true. drilled a few holes in mine to slow it down and its literally caught 100+ fish all year.

Try regular berkley trilene extra smooth monofilament, it casts really nice and it is super cheap. My local shop will spool whatever pound test on your reel for less than the cost of buying a spool. I suggest going to your local bait shop , you might be able to get it spooled for about $4.50/$5.

All on a 3/8oz black on black Cavitron in April last year, just under 22lbs total. I was using 14lb Mustad Thor line.

Its my favorite bait and style of fishing. There have been days that I throw the cavitron and never put it down. I have won lots of money using these baits. Not only does it catch numbers but lunker of the tournament often comes on it.. I fish night tournaments here with a bunch of guy Usually about 25 boats Al I here is bzzzz and some squeeeel.I know right off the bat its a cavitron.

As for the rods and reels /line set up.. I use a 7 ft M/H action rod. Shimano Citica-and 14 lb test Trilene Mono XL

I DO NOT LIKE BRAID WHEN FISHING MY BUZZBAIT --Mono give me the right amount of stretch witch in turn means time for the bass to hold on to the bait

With braid I often pull the bait away from the fish. Or come back with a set of lips. Braid has its applications but for me -not buzzbait fishing.

Believe me theres nothing like buzzbait fishing--The most violent /explosive strikes I have ever seen have come on this bait..

AND MEMBERS--Yes they are more than most buzzbaits but I have learned one thing in my life. You get what you pay for.Everything is made right here in the US-

Quality is everything to me

Ok leave me alone I have work to do

This guy liked them so much he got a cavitron tatooed on his are

Also get a high speed reel it makes a world of difference.

You don't need a high speed reel for Cavitrons. I typically use my relatively slow, 5.8:1 Daiwa Alphas.

I reel it slow but sometimes I make long casts and have to take up the slack quickly-High speed helps me cause im getting old

A squirt of Megastrike in your Wheaties will help you feel young.
