Sad... sad story coming out of Connecticut today. 20 yr old gunman goes to an elementary school and shoot and kills 27 people. 18 were children and 11 were school staff. Gunmen if I am not mistaken then kills himself. I am the proud parent of two kids 6 and 4. When I heard this story it made me numb inside. You are not suppose to drop your kids off at school and think what if... and unfortunately that's the way society is headed. Heck, that's where we are at. Mall gunman last week, elementary school this week, what are we to do??? Take a moment tonight and hug your kids and spouses. We do not know what tomorrrow holds.

An unbelievably awful, horrific event. Numb, yes, anger, big time. Just senseless. I'll be hugging my kids tonight, for sure.

Thoughts and prayers sent out to all of the involved families.

Don't wait for moments like these to keep your family close, love them as much as you can everyday, we are only here for a short time, BassinLou's post is proof of that.

Many more Angels in Heaven right now :cry3:

Heard this on the radio waiting for my kids to be let out of school. I noticed quite a few of us go meet/hug them as they came out when we usually just let them come to our vehicles.

Horrific, how can we even begin to console the parents and families of the victims of this senseless crime. My heart goes out to them.

Terrible...horrible...unnecessary...gutwrenching....if you have a child or a grandchild...now is the time to hold them tight...I am very very sad.....

Brutal day. I have a couple little kids and my wife is an elementary teacher... barely functioning today with a heavy heart. Schools are so vulnerable but you never imagine someone targeting an entire class of kindergartners. Can't help but wonder what was happening in his house the past few days and if his mom tried to stop him before he killed her. Thoughts and prayers to the families and community... Christmas will never be the same for any of them.

Cowardly and despicable are the only words I can think to describe what this guy has done. Killing helpless children and teachers and then kills himself, just the worst kind of person with no feelings and no remorse and a complete sociopath who can think of no one but himself. Good riddance to him and may may the fires roast his tenderest parts for all eternity :happy-devil-0048:

I can't even begin to imagine what those parents and that community are going through.

Yes a very sad day !!!!!

I don't think any one has doubt Lanza's psychological profile or any of the perps committing terrible mass shootings in the last couple of years. Whether it's elementary, university, malls, theaters, and a even military base, it can't be stopped. My wife says lock down the schools, imo only a deterrent but where there is a will someone will always find a way. Can't knock the news media, it's the age we live in of 24/7 instant coverage, but years ago with less coverage these horrific attacks were much less frequent.

SirSnook is right. What happened yesterday cannot be stopped, unless EXTREME changes are made and America is going to make EXTREME changes. Some of us see this sht every other day, and sometimes see worse.

I'm not sure about that. Horrific things happen almost everyday that would blow one's mind. We just didn't get the coverage back then like we do today. A LOT still goes unreported.
