Spinning Rig Line

Featured Replies

Hey guys what's a good line for finnese fishing on my spinning rig...?

When it comes to line, you will get a bajillion opinions of what's good, bad and in between. For the most feedback coverage, I like looking at online reviews.

You weren't specific about the kind of finesse fishing you're doing, but here are reviews for 2 lb. test. I like to use 2 - 4 lb. test for super finesse fishing such as drop shotting and the lightest lures.

I'm pretty stuck on Berkley for basic monofilament and have never experienced issues with any of their lines.

10 lb braid with a flurorcarbon leader connected with an alberto knot, I usually use 8lb fluoro for the leader, but will go down to 6, and up to 12 on spinning gear.

I changed over to braid with a flouro. leader several years ago and have not looked back. It completely solves the manageability issues associated with using spinning gear. I typically use 10-15# braid with a 6-8# flouro. leader, connected by a Uni knot. You can use the same braid for a long time, which really helps you save money from having to re-spool a lot. I use it for both shakey head and dropshot.

30# Power Pro, 12# YoZuri leader.

I generally use P-line CX and Flouroclear in 10 & 12 lb. test.

6lb or 8lb seaguar tatsu, or what Toray Bawo Finesse FC

If you are looking for something cheaper Seaguar Invizx

If you looking for a good mono try Stren Megathin. 8# has the diameter or 6# and the walleye color is nearly invisible. The knot strength and mangement are great. I use it on my main combo and as a leader on my number 2 combo with braid.

This is what I am switching to this year.

Usually don't use less than #10 on my spinning reel.  The ultra light gets #6.

6# Invisx or 20# braid.
