Memphis Shutdown At 2:00

Recommended Posts

We are expecting up to half an inch of ice this afternoon. With falling overnight temperatures,

the situation may be worse in the morning. Thank God for the NFL Playoffs, it's good to be stocked

up this time of year!

Being snowed or iced in is a good time to clean and organize fishing equipment...while your watching the New England Bradys getting womped!

I love how everything shuts down in the south.  A 1/2" of ice is no excuse up here, lol.

When I lived in Alabama everything would shut down at the prediction of snow. We are talking schools, local government everything. You wouldn't be able to find bread or milk in the grocery stores. It was crazy.

We recently got three feet of snow overnight.  BAU by about 10 am the next morning, lol.

It's fine once you get used to it, but it was extremely aggravating for me when we first moved south. I moved from NH to AL in the summer of '92. Late winter/early spring of '93 we had a snowstorm that dropped 8"-10" on our little part of AL, and EVERYTHING shut down for about a week. I remember having a wicked pizza craving, but nobody would deliver.

Blizzard. I wound up getting tired of sitting at home, drove around the barricades on the on-ramps, and went to work.

I moved from PA to Virginia and it is nuts. This year they have already cancelled school the night before a storm is supposed to hit and it never dropped one flake. I made the mistake of doing my normal food shopping the night before a storm and it was crazy. Funny thing is people's carts were filled with two things, frozen pizza and cheap beer.

One positive is that the night of a snowstorm the bars were always fun and full of people no matter what night of the week

We are scheduled for between 3 to 6 inches of snow in the greater Richmond area.

However the snow is not supposed to stick to the roadways which is good.

When snow is in the forecast in Richmond, Virginia, everyone goes to the grocery store and then drives into a ditch.

Everyone be careful in the snow and watch out for ice. We can live wiht the snow but it is the ice that will cause the most damage.

The funniest part about the snow for me Is going to the grocery store the day before to see the folks that have two carts full of stuff like they will be stranded at home for 6 months and the other I will stay silent as there are a number of folks on here that would take offense.

Worst part for me is still having to go into work, even when they have shut down the plant. It seems that I am critical personnel, whatever that is.
