So Tired Of Working....wish I Was Fishing....

Featured Replies

I am getting burned out on the 12 hour days. I find myself staring longingly at weather patterns and temp changes, and wondering when I will find time to get the boat out of the garage.

I'm sure you guys have no idea what I am talking about....

Sure do. Just got done working 60-70 hour weeks for a couple months straight before the holidays. At least you're somewhere that you can go if you get the time. A lot of guys here in the midwest have the time but the water is too hard to go fishing! Which is worse, having the time but no where to fish, or having the water but not the time?

Wouldn't have a clue. I am retired, so I am tackle tinkering, searching out fishing shows on tv, keeping the coffee brewing, reading fishing books, and magazines, and making frequent runs to Bass Pro Shop.....ahhh, retirement is great....

What is retired? I need a dictionary...

I have started to go fishing during my lunch break. Found a spot close to my work. At least 20mins is better than nothing, even if I get skunked. Lol I hope to improve my casting at a minimum. :)

x2  Same here.

Dude its 7 degrees here this morning

How about, that is cold... Like get a brain freeze from breathing kinda cold.

It's -22F up here in northern Canada at the moment (before windchill is factored in, overnight lows were -33F before windchill). Almost every day this week I have to go in early for meetings -- the joys of being lower level management -- and bass doesn't open until June 22.

I can assure you, I know exactly how you feel.

It is more the weather holding me back than work.

Your going to have to explain what wind chill is to the guys down south.

Man, you stink...LOL...it's 15* here now and it was much colder this morning.

Last summer I was doing the 12 hour days and didn't get out fishing all that much, now I have the time and...well...you know...LMAO!

I've been there and it sucks!  Not to rub it in, but better times are coming.  Thirteen weeks and two days until my retirement!  Already bought my retirement gift a year ago; New Ranger Z520 (to me - from me) and am getting everything ready.  Sold an old POS 18' Tracker that i've had for 12 years!

Let's see, I think I am about 40 years from retirement... Looks like its lots of working and squeezing in fishing for me :(

Hootie, I pointed out everything that was wrong with theTracker, and discounted the price for those things, and the guy still wanted it.  He was the first guy to look at it, paid cash, and drove it away. In reality it was a great boat that served me well and it was all I could afford at the time I bought it.  Twelve years is pretty good for an entry level boat. I tried to take good care of it, it was always stored in my garage, and was never abused.  The guy got a good boat at a very fair price.

Wind chill is the exact opposite of humidex/humidity index. Just how humidity makes it feel warmer than it actually is, windchill is just an estimation of what it feels like when it's cold and there is a wind. So it could be -30F as the actual temperature but the speed of the wind makes it feel like -40F.

I can assure you, on days like this when it's -33F at night, which is already stupid cold, if there is a even a light breeze you will think you were in the deepest of Siberia. You can suffer frostbite on exposed skin in minutes on nights like those.

70 degrees as I type this at at 5PM.

Ate lunch at Bass Pro today, picked up some Scrounger jigs on sale and some RC 1.5's for $4.88.

Home this afternoon to charge my new boat (10months) and go out tomorrow morn after massage.

Tinkering with different rod and reel combos and drinking coffee, eating steak and drinking Champagne at night.

Aaaaaahh!  Just retired!!  And for sure guys, you need to do it sooner.  Took Social Secuity while I was working and spent it all on fishing stuff.

I just don't understand how you guys manage with all that cold.  We rarely ever see ice down here in South Louisiana and you can't go 5 miles without crossing water.

I passed up jobs in Iowa and South Dakota because I went up there a couple of weeks in the Winter and the temp was around 10 degrees!  Heck, the FALLS in Sioux Falls was FROZEN!  Never saw something like that.

Of course, lots of you guys have never attended a "Hurricane Party" either.   Now, that there's a different kind of "fun."

I feel your pain, dark basically everyday when I get home. Hate shortened days.
