Where Do You Store Extra Ammo?

Featured Replies

Where do you store extra ammo garage, closet ect? Have no room in the safe full of guns.

I used to keep my extra in a plasttic tote in my closet, but now with a child in the home, i bought another locking safe, a smaller one but it is locking and that is important to me.

I keep mine in a small utility room in the basement.  I have them all sorted and into ammo cans.  I keep a few rounds in the safe for immediate use, but the rest of them I put into air tight bags with my seal a meal and a little dessicant.  The utility room is under lock and key so the kids cannot get into it.

In my heavily secured and double fenced storage room under my town home. I have it inside a 6x12 welded steel cage made from quarter inch angle iron with 1/4in angle iron bars, and 1/8 in thick plexiglass. The plexiglass has been sealed for water proofness. Same on the door with three round locks and built in dead bolt on the door. All the rounds are stored in sealed ammo cans and vaccum sealed plastic ammo boxs. All of which reside on shelving and 1/2 in thick rubber mats on the steel floor. Which is raised two inches from the ground to prevent water entry. Dissident bags are added and removed monthly to insure the air within stays dry. It also has a dehumidifier which is used during the humid summer months. I have gone to great lengths to insure my ammo vault is as safe and tamper proof as possible. Not only for my investment. But also for any childrens safety, particularly my sons. Should he ever somehow get into the unit.

I find it harder to find a place to store powder, I have several pounds in my garage and around 10 pounds in a storage shed... I bet if the owners of the storage unit knew it was there they'd have a fit!

The number of tippy canoes recently is appalling.

We should ban canoes.

Mayans predicted it :eyebrows:

might be a dumb question and maybe a little personal. So you dont have to answer. But why would you have all of your guns and ammo in a boat?

Ammo is under the bed, the C-4 is in the garage and the amonium nitrate is a 40 ft container out back!

Mine is kept in a locked ammo box that is secured to the floor in my closet with lag screws. Innocents and bad guys would have a difficult time opening or removing it.  Extra, loaded magazines are another story.

Unfortunately once I resurfaced from my dive, I tipped my boat and all my found guns, and the guns I brought from home fell into the water, I was out of Oxygen and couldn't retrieve them, such a shame.
