Spring Bait

Featured Replies

What will be your first spring bait you will throw and why? Thanks for your replys

Swim jig with a Rage Craw trailer. Because I'm after the biggest bass around, and I can cover water quickly and thoroughly with that combo.

  Jerkbait ~

Can't argue with that, A-Jay!

Senko probably. Because they "just work", they're the Mac lure of the fishing world!  :eyebrows:

Swim Jig w/ zoom fat albert, or KVD 1.5. Once I find the fish, then slow down and work the area with soft plastics.

I'll most likely start with a swim jig or a lipless crank.  They both allow for covering water quickly

Either a jerk bait or a Silver Buddy-type blade bait.

Why? Because I've had good results with both in early spring

Senko, Jign n pig, and spinnerbait.  I have always had very good luck working these along the bottom.

Either a spinnerbait or a Jig and Rage Craw.

Spinnerbait got my PB one spring (a week and a half after ice out) and the Jig and Rage...well, I don't have to explain that do I? :eyebrows:

I fish Rage Tail soft plastics year around, so the "spring" baits would be MegaStrike Cavitron and jerkbaits,

specifically Smithwick Rogues this year!

:love20:

Jerkbait and a football jig probably. Maybe a red eye shad. Jerkbait or red eye shad for covering water, jig for fishing it slow.

Suspending jerkbait or a hair jig, it just depends on water clarity and temp.

Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, Swim Jigs. Then I'll slow down and fish with soft plastics too!
