I have been checking out the switchblade jigs, and decided to come up with this. It's primitive for now, but I like the idea.

This is a good use of spare spinner baits. Let us know how it swims.

You might want a bigger prop, that little one might not create enough of what you are looking for.

 

Another good Idea, is to remove the spinner blade and prop, and on the front wire put some beads and clankers to create noise when you yo-yo the bait.

 

Just another idea.

Or better yet, make the front wire straight, and add an inline spinner blade....

Thats funny that you mention Talon lures, about 2 years ago I posted a prop jig I made and the owner came on the forum and blew up.

If it is not patented he can go fish by himself

Did you ever give that propbait a test ride, or did it just make its way down to the bottom of your tackle box?

I made a bunch and use them, they all have different size spinners and different configurations, but they all catch fish.

I'm wondering if maybe I don't have enough space between the head and the blade. I use spacers and beads between the two and tried bending the wire at different angles, but no luck. Doesn't make sense to me since its basically an inline spinner, but maybe the aerodynamics just aren't right. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the blade is too small...what size blade are you matching up to what size head?

For whatever reason, willow leaf blades do not work well on inline spinners.  I'd try an Indiana or Colorado style blade.

3/8 oz head, I'm not sure as to the blade size, probably 1 1/4" long.

I'll see if I can't scrounge up some Indiana blades that would work. Thanks for the input , guys.

The blade was too small...if you scrounge up an Indiana you'll need at least a number 4 blade but IMO a number 5 would be better.
