First 11years I was 1st an electric motor winder then a mechanic, winder, dynamic balancer & also repaired hoists.

While doing the motor gig I earned an associates degree in Industrial Electronics Instrumentation.

The next 8 yrs I was a component level bench electronics technician repairing vfd's & circuit boards out of vfd's. I also did sporadic service calls all over the country.

The past 12yrs I have been in the industrial electronics industry as an industrial electronics ( sort of like factory robots but not quite ) automation specialist doing technical sales, tech support, some design etc.

I also spent almost 25years as a second job as a baseball & softball umpire doing everything from Little League to high school, some college & a grand total of 1 semi pro game! Lol

Another PT here. Used to have a sweet 4x10 schedule with Fri-Sat-Sun off. Worked my way up the ladder and now manage a multidisciplinary rehab team of 40+ and unfortunately had to say bye bye to the 3 day weekends. Still try to make sure I get out fishing 1x/week for my sanity.

Sales & Marketing Director. In a nutshell, I help high school kids get into college and adults get into graduate/business/law/medical school.

I'm a behavior modification specialist/adult babysitter (deputy sheriff in one of the biggest jails in the state). Been doing it for almost 7 years now. Some days I think about how nice it would be to work a "normal" job where I'm awake during the day and asleep at night and home on weekends but I'm not sure I could do anything else. I'm not sure my attitude and sense of humor I've developed in this line of work would be appreciated most other places either

I've done construction work, I heard some vulgar stuff but not as bad as some stuff that gets said in the inner circle of a group of cops.

Retired US Army Sergeant Major, Airborne, Special Forces, Ranger, for 26 years. Five tours in RVN, two in Europe, numerous side trips to sunny spots such as Central America and the middle east. Had a great career and now am trying to survive retirement.

 

Back in my late teen days I tried joining the U.S. Army (I'm a Canadian) so that I could be a Ranger. Always had so much admiration for what they did, all the stories of heroism. Long story short, it proved to be a pain in the rear being a foreign national so I ended up joining the Canadian Armed Forces were I ended up as a Recce Patrolman (what you Yanks call Recon, though I hasten to say that RPs aren't the same elite that someone in a unit like the Marine Force Recon units would be).

 

So my hat is off to your service.
