Espn Sucks. Where's The Classic Coverage At?

Featured Replies

I watched part 1 yesterday, but I turn it on at 9am sharp this morning and it's freaking Sportscenter. I can't believe that they would advertise coverage of the event, and then screw everyone over. Hopefully Bassmaster can swing a deal with another network next year so we can actually watch it.

It was on 6-8 CST this morning

My DirectTv guide said it came on at 9 and I even auto tuned it so I wouldn't miss it. The commercial here said it came on again at 9am as well. Our region must be messed up.

I had to find it under the title fishing. Kind of sad considering the scope of the classic. They should publicize and respect the sport more than they do. There needs to be a strictly fishing channel.

Yeah I agree. Considering the trash that ESPN shows on their network now, the live coverage or timely coverage of the Classic would have helped redeem them.

ESPN 2 says "Fishing" at 9, but it was Sports Center. Grrr. I like Sports Center, but wanted to watch the Classic.

Any ideas on a replay?

I don't know about the replay but day 3 is on tonight from 10-12.EST.

After hearing the reaction to Pitbull song at the weigh in I suggest Univision...

Dont worry, its on again tonight...just saw a commercial

It was on from 7-9am for day 2. The final day is at 10pm on ESPN2.

Thankfully I can record it as 10 PM is past my bedtime.  That being said, it's a lousy time to show Day 3.  I guess Sportscenter must get higher ratings than the Classic.

I hope you are being sarcastic here........i would bet sportscenter is one of the highest rated shows period, with the only thing taking away from ratings is that it is pretty much on all day long on one of the various ESPN channels.

It is a lousy time to show it but this schedule is what they've used for the last several years at least. Day one on Saturday. Day one again, and day two, the following Sunday morning. Then, day three late that Sunday night. It blows chunks. I think B.A.S.S. should leave ESPN for another channel. I'll be the first to tell you I don't watch any sports at all so I honestly have no idea how the network works, or what it's schedules are, but I've always felt like they treated the bass fishing coverage like it was not very important. Any prior to shows of games that ran long always took precedence and ran into the bass fishing coverage times. I know this is probably just the way it has to be for any game going into overtime, but as someone who cares not for the game, I find it annoying when they finally get to the bass coverage in the middle of the show. Not trying to be a baby about it but its bad enough that they have it on at weird times already.

I love to fish and I love to watch the Classic, however I would venture to say that the viewing audience of the Classic is a very small number. I don't know why ESPN would try to appease a crowd that is going to tune in for 2 days a year to watch bass fishing.

Now, if LeBron James were to take up fishing, I'm sure it would be on more often :)

Get him on Zona's show and watch things start to change.  LOL

I have directv as well and there is pretty much no coverage of fishing shows. I enjoy river monsters on Animal Planet, and Wicked tuna on History I believe, but thats about it. I had to order NESN and the Sportsman channel just to get a few 30 minute shows about fishing, and half the time they are about crappie and other species I dont go after. hmmmmmm
