Wacky rigged Fluke?

Featured Replies

How many fish a wacky rigged fluke with a nail weight in the nose? Seems like it would put on a good presentation when falling. I may try this a little bit tomorrow.

Interesting concept...I might play with that this weekend   (7" magnum w/o the nail weight).

Without the weight it will probally look like a dying shad. With the weight it may look like a shad darting down to feed.

Haven't caught anything on it yet, done it a few times, but man oh man you should see that magnum when wacky rigged it just screams eat me! Hook the bait in the upper two thirds, closer to the head, stick the hook through the back and make the point come out the side. The falcon k-wacky weedless hooks fit it pretty good too.

Haven't rigged a fluke style bait quite like that before but it is a great way to wacky rig a trickworm. 8-)

Not really the same thing at all, but similar concept....

LFT Magic Shad wacky rigged on a flick-shake jig.

Interesting. I'd be curious to see the action on that with the segmented body. :(

Ive usde it before at Lake Wylie. I was fishing in a cove and saw a bunch of bait fish and the bass were all over them. I threw a bunch of stuff on them but couldnt get bit. I tried a wacky rig fluke on a 5/0 wide gap hook. Caught 5 on 6 casts.

The Falcon K is one hook I had in mind along with the Owner SSW short-shank (model 5180).

Thus far I've done reasonably well with a "nose-hooked" 7" magnum,

but must admit that most of the takers were lesser bass. I believe that Florida

is at the crossroads right now, as spent cows are beginning to feed again (best is yet to come).

I described such a rig to the BR community over a couple of years ago. Btw, you can hook the bait on the side or along the back.
