Bass Pro & Megabass

Featured Replies

I just noticed that BPS has Megabass now. I have a few of their lures and I'm shocked to see BPS carrying them. The Megabass is top tier and I hope the Memphis store has a nice selection.

I hope I'm not late to the party.

Website or in store?

That's odd for them to carry stuff like that.

The Memphis store is one of the smallest in the country, and has the worst selection of any I have been to.  I wouldn't suspect they would have a nice selection.

Oddly enough the hooks are different on the ones bps sells. The center hooks have barbs.

BPS here in ga has been selling mega bass lures for a while now .Ive bought 1 of everything they have in stock.I do also change the hooks that they come with .The only thing is they can only order once a month from megga bass in japan.

The BPS store in Orlando told me that they only get a few of the baits like Jackall and Megabass in stock at a time. They didn't have any at the time of my visit and said they go quickly when they do get them in.

I was at my bps the day they arrived. They weren't even unpacked yet so I got to see the entire shipment. They probably had 50. The guy did say bps can only get the 110 and nothing else from Meggabass.

Bullett, ill buy the stock hooks from you?

The BPS in Springfeild, Mo had 110's, knuckle 60's, popmax, xpods,  and quite a few others.

Online BPS doesn't list selling the popmax, you sure it wasn't the pop x?

On another note the selection of colors isn't the best either. Other than White Python and GG bass they are average.

MegaBass is a hit and miss when it comes to ordering them. You can place your order but there is no guarantee that it will be filled 100%.

@MCS you're probablly right about that. Next time I go through Springfield I'll take a closer look at the Megabass lures.

Only reason I mention is the pop max is the one with the full gill slits. Think they retail for 28.99 NIB on most tackle sites.

The Bass Pro here in St. Louis carries megabass

The BPS in Auburn NY didn't have any the last time I was there (about 3 weeks ago) The only high end hard baits they have are usually Lucky Craft. They do have some Jackall plastics, but that's about it from them. They have a lot of other stuff priced like it's high end though, if that counts.

They don't stock the popmax it's the pop x.

Pro Blue and Elegy Bone are excellent colors in this neck of the woods.  Hard to buy them at BPS however when you can wait for a sale at an online retailer and get them a few bucks cheaper.

Shoot trolling a few of the websites today, slow day at work, and noticed the pop x is 3 to 4 bucks cheaper not on sale on most sites versus the 21.99 on BPS.

That really shouldn't be the case. Megabass is one of few lures that is actually under MAP protection. They have a minimum advertised price and dealers are required to abide by that or lose their ability to offer them.

Megabass takes that sort of thing pretty hardcore, too.

I am going to assume your are talking about pricing in the USA.
  • Super User

Correct, Megabass USA is quite different than Jpn.

  • Super User

Part of the Megabass USA expansion includes lower pricing.  There are several baits that should be in sub $20 range now.  My BPS had a pretty decent selection but oddly, no 110's.

I think your right JRob, TW has some pop max for 19.99 and then some I think are the JDM colors for 28.99 their pop x are 17.99 and a back to the garage for 26.99 Which I believe is a lower price than a few months ago for the standard versions as I have been pricing for a while maybe bps just hasn't dropped their price to match.

I was fishing a 110 that I got from bps yesterday and it was slowly sinking in a vertical nose down position.
