After careful consideration, I have decided that Dwight has been disqualified due to unsportsmanlike behavior.  (see rule 6)  Research showed that he once made $12 in a professional tournament and therefore his amateur status is revoked. :eyebrows:

4.5 Smallmouth out of Lake Erie in Conneaut, Ohio on Sat., April 27th. Not much compared to everyone else but it's my best in years.

OH Record SM: 9, 8oz. (9.5)

72oz. / 152oz. X 100 = 47.37

Caught on a charter trip; only caught two smallies over two very tough days.

Posted in the Outing section but forgot to post here with the math.

This fish was 7.47 or 119.52 oz

State record for PA is 179oz

119.52 / 179 = 66.77% of the state record for PA. Gettin' there ;)

Only 5 fishing days left ~

Who's planning to catch that Hawg of a Bass that would help them pull off the last minute victory ?

I'll be out there trying to make it happen.

Anyone else ?

A-Jay

I hope I can make it happen!

Jeff

Speedbead is in the lead right...

I entered this the last two years and just forgot to get in this year, which it figures is the year I catch my PB smallmouth bass.  ( 7lb. SM / 8.5lb. SM PA State Record = 0.8235).  Oh well, I'll just have to catch a bigger one next year  ;-)

Nice catches for all those who did enter!

So, PA sweep?  ;)

i was the only one to post a spot.

Wish this could have been made a sticky or had more people participate.

I thought previous iterations of this had more participants?

I missed it this year- smaller fish than last year for me but a couple could have gone up to at least make it fun.

An Idea for the next state vs state deal ~

We might want to consider a winner from each state - that way members are competing with members who are all fishing against the same state record weight.

To me, that is the beauty of the state record percentage format.

Granted Massachusettes, Georgia, and Virginia (maybe others) have it really tough in the format but if the goal is to catch the biggest fish in the waters near you IMO there is no better way to do it.

Whoever won (Speedbead ? ), please send me your shipping address and what you want for Rage Tails, oh, and Congrats!

  • Super User

If I am reading this correctly the winners are

  • Speedbead - Largemouth
  • Dwight - Smallmouth (What a surprise.)  :bushy-browed:
  • 200racing - Spotted

You are too kind, A-Jay.  I guess if we had more people involved we could do that but I do like the idea of all of us competing against one another, state vs state.  Some states may have a better chance than others, but the percentage format evens it out as much as it can be.
