Wife/girlfriend Fishing Rod?

Featured Replies

Pflueger Trion and 20# power pro, let her pick the rod

Just got my girlfriend a 6'10 mlxf *** and cardinal sx for her first rod.

I almost bought my wife a spinning combo.  I decided to teach her both of them and let her figure out which one she likes the best.  Good thing I did.  She hates spinning rods and only wants a baitcaster.

Do not buy something you want, and try to tell her you got it just for her. There ain't a wife out there who can't see through that. Get her her own gear, and keep your hands off of it.

And, don't go cheap. You will regret it.

My wihe has two combos. Both are Avid rods with Energy PT spinning reels. They are hers. I don't use them; they are setup and ready for her use when she wants them.

Sounds like someone who has been married awhile and wants to keep it that way!

Good post and GREAT advice.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I'm going to take her up to bass pro this weekend and let her pick something she wants out.

I don't want to get my wife into fishing, that's when I spend time with my girlfriend.
